  4. 4.5 Volcan El Teide (13.6k reviews)
    - Highest peak in Spain
    Volcanos
    Volcan El Teide image
If you want to go with the cable car on Teide volcano, the ticket is around 38 euros for a return trip. The cable car reaches 3500m. You can also reach the peak, if the weather is good and have a special authorization. From the cable car viewpoint you can enjoy some nice views over the park, seeing the old vocano (there is information about the development of the volcano) The temperatures are low on Teide, so I would recommend to dress acordingly. 5. 4.5 Parque Natural de Corralejo (10.7k reviews)
    - Try to Go in the Morning!
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Parque Natural de Corralejo image
The morning light is amazing and great for photos, plus there is generally less wind (certainly not always) I was there alone with no other people! The dunes can have a lot of wind packed sand so it’s not too difficult to walk in barefoot- I recommend keeping sandals on for the first 50 feet as there is some fresh glass it seems closer to the roads. When climbing up the dunes it is a bit softer, but such fun in bare feet. If you go later in the day be prepared for wind gusts and consider taking a scarf or face guard. Easy to drive to and park and do on your own. If you are taking the public bus it is at least 1.5 km to walk south from the hotel Rui bus stop area along the highway. Road has a great shoulder so it’s safe to walk on. Note the bus schedule is on the half hourish for pick ups to Corralejo and about 20 past and 10 to the hour going to Puerto del Rosario. On Sundays there is 1/2 as many buses (so pick ups at 1/2 past and 20 past only) See more..

Great entertainment/ live music at night in various locations , recommend The flagship bar , Cafe Berrugo & Oasis Marina bay. Lots of shops to browse , huge market twice a week & many places to just sit and chill with an ice cream , coffee or smoothie & take in the gorgeous views. See more..

  9. 4.5 Playa de Maspalomas (8.619 reviews)
    - Lack of Kiosks and Toilets
    Beaches
    Playa de Maspalomas image
With the nice new kiosks placed during lockdown it was a real disappointment to not have them open. Also a huge missed opportunity to have toilets installed in the middle of the beach as it's such a long walk to get back to either end to use facilities if you're spending the day there. For visitors please note that only card payments can be taken for sun loungers and parasols, they are no longer accepting cash and a lot of people were caught out by it. Again forcing customers to take their cards and phones down the beach it would be nice if there were some kind of locker facility by each kiosk for a small fee. Aside from this still a gorgeous clean beach and the attendants were lovely friendly people so heartily recommend a visit See more..

  12. 4.5 Reserva Natural Especial de Las Dunas de Maspalomas (7.697 reviews)
    - Beauty spot - but don't go after dark
    Geologic Formations
Reserva Natural Especial de Las Dunas de Maspalomas image
The sand dunes are one of my favorite places in Gran Canaria, I will never get tired of wandering around and enjoying the most stunning views. We watched the sunset at the mirador and got the idea that there was still enough time to quickly cross through the dunes over to the Meloneras side before dark, but totally underestimated the distance and ended up walking in total darkness and were literally eaten alive by some very nasty mosquitos. We managed to stay on the path but at the end of it, on the Meloneras site, we found a locked gate, shock. Luckily, we did manged to exit through a dry canal. I would not recommend a night trip through the dunes as it was a bit spooky and the insect bites only went away after 2 weeks. See more..

    Cueva de los Verdes image
There aren’t many places that gather as many areas of interest for the cultural and natural heritage of Lanzarote as Cueva de los Verdes, a unique mythological-looking cave, full of legends and extraordinary landscape and beauty. It came about after the eruption of the Volcán de la Corona, and it’s one of the most impressive hidden wonders in the depths of Lanzarote. It was used as a hideout by the locals who needed shelter to protect themselves from invasions and attacks of pirates coming from the north of Africa during the 16th and 17th Centuries. In the 19th Century, it became a must for travellers, experts and European scientists due to the uniqueness of this volcanic territory, named after a family that kept their cattle in the area, the story goes See more..

  16. 3.5 Yumbo Centrum (5.924 reviews)
    - Don’t believe all the negativity
    Shopping Malls
    Yumbo Centrum image
What a load of tosh talked about this centre being rubbish. Like many centres across the Canary Islands and Spain they are purpose built and regularly updated. We’ve stayed all over the world and visited here endless times. Like everywhere there are good bits and bad bits with a fair bit of mediocre. The shops vary wildly, some good quality a lot of holiday tat as in resorts. The restaurants again vary but some really good ones such as Valentines. Day time always a nice lunch to be had. Staff work incredibly hard and amaze how they are multi lingual, such a talent. The bars also vary, a lot geared to a gay clientele. Some loud, some laidback but a good place to people watch. We were there for Carnaval and what a happy place to be with no trouble or bother. The Spanish know how to put on a show and party. If you are looking for a quaint experience it’s not going to be here. See more..

Beautiful Beach Great beach with lots of cafes and a shopping centre near by. There were lots of people seeking tho he’s on the beach, but we didn’t mind. We bought a big towel off someone and others were selling mojitos, massages, sun glasses. They weren’t particularly pushy, just calling out what they were selling. There was even someone selling doughnuts and someone else selling fruit. The water was lovely and clear and there was plenty of places to just lay down with towels rather than rent Sun beds. 20. 4.5 Mirador Del Rio (5.316 reviews)
    - Great Sunset place
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 6:45 PM Spent < 1 hour Lookouts
    Mirador Del Rio image
Located 400 metres high, on the Risco de Famara, the Mirador del Río is one of César Manrique's most representative architectural creations as it shows a series of artistic and architectural details and his eagerness to combine art and nature. It is located near the remains of an ancient military base that dates back to the end of the 19th Century. It is camouflaged on the rock in a way in which only a genius of Manrique's magnitude could conceive. See more..
  21. 4.5 Playa de Papagayo (5.142 reviews)
    - Worth a visit.
    Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
    Playa de Papagayo image
Nice beaches split into two with a cafe on the top of the cliffs in the middle. Can get a little busy and beware if it’s been raining as it makes for a very interesting muddy drive as it along at the end of an unmade road. The cost to enter the unmade road was very reasonable. There are a few steps to go down to reach the beach but not really a problem. Overall, an enjoyable visit. See more..
  22. 4.5 Botanical Gardens (Jardin Botanico) (4.872 reviews)
    - Great garden, well labelled, needs some refreshments
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Gardens
    Botanical Gardens (Jardin Botanico) image
We always visit Botanic Gardens at the places we visit. Some disappoint, some delight. This one was in the delightful category. It is set out as a formal garden with rectangular beds around a central pond and fountain. The plants are well cared for and each is labelled. Some of them were planted in the 18th century and are by now huge. Others are up to date modern cultivars, for example some very big variegated Monsteras. I was particularly impressed with the tree ferns, varied selection and very large. The entrance fee of three euros and reductions for kids, students and pensioners is super value. I only wish there had been a small kiosk selling drinks and ice cream etc. See more..
  23. 4.0 Playa de las Teresitas (4.582 reviews)
    - Beach day
    Beaches
    Playa de las Teresitas image
Visited here when staying in Puerto Cruz, it was about a 40 min drive each way and easy to find. Plenty of free parking close to the beach Lots of space when we visited and its a very big beach you'd need a huge amount of people for it to be full or busy. Very well organised with a bar/cafe,toilets and showers at equal distance points all along so you're never far from the facilities. The food was surprisingly good and good value for a beach cafe, recommend the chefs salad and my husband enjoyed his chefs burger which was very generously filled. Very cheap to rent beds and a parasol, think it was €6 per couple per day. There was also cabana beds to rent. Lovely sea and mountain views. Definitely recommend See more..
  24. 4.5 Jardin de Cactus (4.488 reviews)
    - Enjoyable visit
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Gardens
    Jardin de Cactus image
Jardín de Cactus was the last intervention work César Manrique performed in Lanzarote. The artist from Lanzarote could see beyond how run down the ancient rofera was. Roferas were the quarries that raids are taken from to create a very particular home for cactaceae flowers from all over he world. Surrounded by the largest cactus plantation of the island, dedicated to crops of cochineal insect, a product of great financial relevance in Lanzarote in the 19th Century. Jardín de Cactus has around 4,500 specimens of 450 different species, of 13 different families of cactus from the five continents. The green shade of the plants stands out against the blue sky and the dark volcano creating a harmonious explosion of colour that impresses visitors. The only sounds that break the peace and quiet that prevails, are singing birds and boozing insects, enjoying their very own oasis. See more..
  25. 4.5 Playa de Mogan (4.359 reviews)
    - Lovely small town easy to get around and plenty of amenities
    Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Beaches
    Playa de Mogan image
Definitely deserves its "little venice" name. The town is small and easy to get around. The beach is small but well serviced, and well protected by the jetty. Plenty of beach restaurants and bars for a great range of foods. The shops are mainly independent tourist gift shops (cheap plastic chinese stuff definitely NOT from the island), but some more discerning retailers with local produce and arts (and a few designer fashion shops such as Lacoste, Esprit, DesIgual etc), as well as a number of 'duty free' style outlets. The holiday apartments around the marina are really lovely, covered in borgonvilliae, geraniums etc with a very 'Mediterranean' feel. We were staying at the Radisson Blu Mogan, which is only a short walk from the town via a fully pedestrianised wide walkway. THere's a street market there on Fridays, but again, not really local produce or crafts, mainly cheap imports. See more..

Great place for a visit, it’s the only place we found someone doing hair braiding also, this was a little pricey at 12e each. There are some beautiful hotels in this section, we accidentally went into one as it looked more like the entrance to a local park or nature reserve. There’s plenty of shops and restaurants, we didn’t stay for food just a wander around. We found someone sand sculpting on the beach, as well as street dancers and singers Definitely somewhere to visit See more..
  29. 4.5 Playa de Cofete (3.479 reviews)
    - Beautiful hidden beach

    Playa de Cofete image
This beach is absolutely beautiful and worth a visit. However to get here it can be dangerous. Once you get onto the dirt road count about 45 min/ 1 hour to get to the beach if you’re not used to driving on these kind off roads. Take plenty of water and some food. There is only one restaurant that is about 5 minutes in car from the beach on the dirt road. The dirt road is used often so it is in pretty good shape but lots of twists and turns. On the way up or down stop at the mirrador for a beautiful view. This beach can be very windy. See more..

This restaurant is next to the beach/sea and it is towards the end of El Golfo which makes it more private than the main run of restaurants. The views are amazing. Friendly staff and we did not need the menu as we ordered the seafood paella. We were told it would take 25 mns which was fine and ensured it was freshly cooked. It was certainly worth the wait and it was excellent with 2 large helpings. Half a bottle of the tasty dry white Guiguan. Slightly disappointing apple pie to share but overall an excellent lunch. Have been before a few times and have settled on using buses which this year was problematical. We travelled from Los Cristianos via Adeje and Santiago de Teidi. Late buses and an a large crowd for the return trip from the valley meant no room on the smaller mini bus but we eventually escaped. No taxis available. I suspect this was a post covid one off problem. If you want hassle free then take a booked trip or hire a taxi at a price. The Valley itself is well worth the trip. Stunning views and plenty of walks. The area is very scenic. See more..

Visited in January with two kids 11 and 12. Waves were massive and very scary. Red flag and two lufe guards but still some people went playing in the waves. We played far up from the waves and still you felt how easy it is to fall and get swept away. Saw some parents not paying close attention and small kids got scared. So be careful. Beach is beautiful, black soft sand and gorgeous view. We walked from northern Puerto de la Cru, approx 30 min and great walk through the city. See more..

Amazing place to sunbathe and swim in sheltered lagoons. Either head for the couple of beach areas or into the quieter rock shelters in the sand dunes if the wind is blowing excessively. Spectacular waves breaking onto the rocks are just mesmerising. Further out there are naturists scattered about the rocky areas. This place is one of the most relaxed and favourite beaches to visit in the world. Take your own picnic if you're staying for any length of time although there is a food and drink shack, but we didn't try it. The town is just a short stroll away with many restaurants and views. Great place to watch the Ferries coming in & out. Loved my Pickie of Armas with the crane looking like it's fitted to the top of it The crane is working on the sea wall, strengthening it, & is going to be there for sometime, visible from much of Los Cristianos. Normally loads of smaller fishing boats & booze cruise boats using the harbour, but their numbers are drastically reduced in these uncertain times, even The Ragnarock has been sitting there for over 6 months & hasn't moved. Luckily the 3 different ferries keep the harbour busy with their trips to La Gomera La Palma & El Hierro. See more..

And at 6/ 7pm all the locals go down to the beach with there families, lots of drinks & food & the families range from the very young to the very old. The sea is at its warmest & there’s hardly any tourist at that time. Also on the right hand side in the day is lots of different water sports to suit all pockets & the glass bottom boat that goes out every 30 minutes from early morning until 6pm. which suits the none sun bathers on the beach. In the tourist part of the day there 5/6 cafe bars open at the back on the beach, who sell food, drinks, ice creams etc. there also a few spar supermarkets to help with any thing you need for the beach or when you leave. We also use to leave our towels on the sunbeds & go for a walk in the local shops or restaurants. The price at the time we went was €9 per bed & you could stay as long as you wanted. Someone used to come round & collect the money. There was usually some background music from the nearby bar which we enjoyed also. See more..

    - Busy place - extensive beach- windy
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Morro del Jable image
I went on a road trip to the South of Fuerteventura- definitely wanted to see this beach and what the community was like. Beach is endless! It goes forever. Great for walking barefoot Be prepared for WIND! While it’s sunny - there is always a strong wind going in several directions. You will get a free ‘sand scrub’ while walking or laying on I’m the beach. Surf was yellow flag today and I saw many people enjoying the surf in February. It’s a pretty big walk to the beach and parking may be challenging to find a spot - so if mobility is an issue know there is a drive down and drop off area so you can reduce the travel. Lots of condos, hotels, and shops/restaurants on the avenue. A few beach bars exist and there are bathrooms (just ask the cafe they will direct you to where they are). Was a great opportunity to see the gorgeous colours of the water and beautiful beach. Nice to see so many walking and bring their kids out to play. See more..

If crowded beaches with sun loungers for hire and beach bars aren’t your thing - sotavento is the alternative you are looking for. Stunningly beautiful and expansive, you can relax and enjoy some peace and quiet and privacy. Naturalists flock to Sotavento for this reason. Free parking is available down an unpaved road off of FV2. See more..

    Roque Nublo image
Started our walk from the car park & headed up the main pathway. The views as you climb through the trees are amazing & it was nice to enjoy them for a moment in the shade. The climb does steepen & a reasonable level of mobility is needed to ascend some areas. On reaching the Frog & The Friar the views are simply spectacular & worth every step taken the reach them. 46. 4.0 Teguise Market (2.087 reviews)
    - Sunday morning market
Wednesday: Spent 1-2 hours Flea & Street Markets
    Teguise Market image
Every week, vendors peddle local crafts and handmade goods in the charming town of Teguise, the former capital of the Canary Island. Here you'll find local artisans and a wide range of items from pottery, baskets and jewelry to local wines and cheeses. Bargaining is expected, so be sure to haggle. There's a celebratory atmosphere at the market with traditional Canarian cuisine, live music and entertainment, but be wary of pickpockets. Visit early and beat the crowds, or stick around until closing to score last-minute steals. Consider a market tour by a local guide which includes round-trip transportation. – Tripadvisor See more..

The fountain show at 9 PM is one of the major attraction in South Tenerife. It's really very attractive. Beside fountain there are a lot of bar and restaurants on the upper level which are very popular with tourists. This entire area remains very crowded in the evening. Worth seeing... See more..
  48. 4.5 Masca Gorge Trail (2.059 reviews)
    - Great walk but challenging!
    Hiking Trails
    Masca Gorge Trail image
This walk is currently only open at the weekend (winter months) and has to be booked in advance. Unless you have walking boots/shoes with a good tread you won’t be allowed to join the trail. The trail is a down and back route and the first/last 0.5km are steep - 200m ascent over a distance of 400m. The .5km to the sea is equally challenging. The path is well marked but rocky with steep steps in places. I (a reasonably fit 66 year old) managed it in 6 hours with a half hour break for lunch but many chose to turn round before reaching the beach, currently out of bounds. There are rumours that a ferry from the pier at the beach to a nearby port may start again in the summer. If it does the route will remain a challenge, but much easier. See more..
  49. 4.5 Playa Dorada Beach (2.002 reviews)
    - Clean beach, golden sand and safe waters
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
    Playa Dorada Beach image
Monday 10th January and we walked from our Hotel, H10 Timanfaya Palace, along Avenida Maritima, a coastal pathway, in the direction of Rubicon Marina. Along our way we stopped here at this beach, which is very wide with golden sand and it stretches about 300 metres along the coast. It is situated along the Avineda between the Port and Marina Two man-made breakwaters, constructed with rocks, stretch out into the sea from either side of the beach. These create a protected sheltered area with calm waters, an ideal safe swimming area. Rows and rows of yellow sunbeds with blue umbrellas line up along the beach, these are available to hire. There are showers along the beach. When we were here, it was a bit overcast, it was virtually deserted with only a few people walking along the Beach. It was gloriously quiet, perhaps due to the time of year, peak season would be a different story. There are numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and shops close by on the Avineda. See more..
