Enjoyable visit
Jardín de Cactus was the last intervention work César Manrique performed in Lanzarote. The artist from Lanzarote could see beyond how run down the ancient rofera was. Roferas were the quarries that raids are taken from to create a very particular home for cactaceae flowers from all over he world. Surrounded by the largest cactus plantation of the island, dedicated to crops of cochineal insect, a product of great financial relevance in Lanzarote in the 19th Century. Jardín de Cactus has around 4,500 specimens of 450 different species, of 13 different families of cactus from the five continents. The green shade of the plants stands out against the blue sky and the dark volcano creating a harmonious explosion of colour that impresses visitors. The only sounds that break the peace and quiet that prevails, are singing birds and boozing insects, enjoying their very own oasis.

Enjoyable visit
I enjoyed my visit to the Garden. It was late afternoon on a Monday so it was not so full. There is not much to see, it is only cactus in different sizes. Still I enjoyed it. Some great photo opportunities for models. It is fun. There was a cafe/Restaurant there too but I did not buy anything. There is a bus stop just in front of it. Taxi from Cueva de los Verdes to Cactus Garden was 14 euro.

Well worth a visit.
This is beautiful and definitely different! I now want a cactus garden! My daughter and I travelled there from Costa Teguise using the local buses which was an easy trip and relatively inexpensive. The bus runs infrequently so you have to keep an eye on the timetables but it gave us approx 3 hours at the Jardin which felt just about right. We found the cafe very expensive - high prices, small portions. Make sure to visit the toilets and admire the artwork.
