The sand dunes are one of my favorite places in Gran Canaria, I will never get tired of wandering around and enjoying the most stunning views. We watched the sunset at the mirador and got the idea that there was still enough time to quickly cross through the dunes over to the Meloneras side before dark, but totally underestimated the distance and ended up walking in total darkness and were literally eaten alive by some very nasty mosquitos. We managed to stay on the path but at the end of it, on the Meloneras site, we found a locked gate, shock. Luckily, we did manged to exit through a dry canal. I would not recommend a night trip through the dunes as it was a bit spooky and the insect bites only went away after 2 weeks. See more..
4.5Teide National Park(5.847 reviews) - A must visit Spent 1-2 hours Mountains • National Parks • Geologic Formations • Volcanos
Strange volcanic rock formations and spectacular scenery distinguish this park, which surrounds Mount Teide, an active volcano and the highest peak in Spain.See more..
This is one of this geological things hard to explain but easy to enjoy. The big waves get into caves and break. The foam goes out through holes on the roof ad there we are. Amazing show. Way better late in the afternoon when the sun going down offers a wide range of different colours. If you are in Lanzarote, you have to go! See more..
Started our walk from the car park & headed up the main pathway. The views as you climb through the trees are amazing & it was nice to enjoy them for a moment in the shade. The climb does steepen & a reasonable level of mobility is needed to ascend some areas. On reaching the Frog & The Friar the views are simply spectacular & worth every step taken the reach them. 4.5Los Roques de Garcia(1.227 reviews) - Really enjoyed it Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Geologic Formations
Los Roques forms a beautiful framework of more than 50 keys and 300 sandbanks, in the form of an atoll, which makes it unique and incomparable to this group and insular of the Venezuelan seas. It is located in the Caribbean Sea, in the north of Venezuela, between 11º 44 '45' 'and 11º 58'36' 'north latitude and 66º 32'42' 'and 66º 52'27' 'west longitude of Greenwich , being concentrated about 120 km. 4.5Caldera de Bandama(1.106 reviews) - Great hike and views Geologic Formations
Excellent place to visit and hike or just to take a look if you don't want to hike as its a large impressive caldera full of trees and plants. We opted to hike both the rim of the caldera and down to the bottom where there is short circular path. Each trail is around 3.5k. We are reasonably fit and they took around an hour apiece. Technically easy but lots of incline and decline on mainly loose ash/gravelly tracks. Great coastal views from the rim trail. The interior of the caldera is shaded unless the sun is overhead. Handy cafe/restaurant at the start/end point. Parking is roadside.See more..
4.5Monumento Natural de Ajuy(1.061 reviews) - Gem of the west coast Spent 2-3 hours Beaches • Caverns & Caves • Geologic Formations
This little village was our last stop on a day trip to the west and it turned out to be the best choice to end the day. Tiny sleepy village with a beautiful black sand beach and interesting caves just around the rock. It was a surprise that these caves have a special place in the islands history. Reserve a good several hours for this place if you want to do both the beach and the caves. We did visit both caves down and it was an amazing feeling to be there. See more..
4.5El Golfo(636 reviews) - Great place for sunset Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Lookouts • Geologic Formations
El Golfo is a lovely village on the sea about 20 minutes from Playa Blanca. The village has a few tavernas along the sea front and prices looked reasonable from what we saw. The sunset there was amazing and attracts a lot of people taking photographs. There’s also a few accommodations for people wanting to stay and again prices looked reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place early evening for the sunset.See more..

4.5Poris o Prois de Candelaria(122 reviews) - A frightening drive to get there Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
If you are a nervous driver don't go there. The drive down from Tijarafe is the steepest I have ever experienced. The road is very narrow and you find yourself praying you don't meet a car going in the opposite direction !!!! We met 2 and reversing was a nightmare. However, if you do decide to go you will have a 15 minute walk from the car park before reaching one of the most amazing places I have ever seen and people actually live there. This really is an astonishing experience. But prepare yourself for the drive back up to the village.See more..

4.0Arco de los Caletones(1 review) - Very nice rock formations in the coast of La Graciosa Island Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Geologic Formations Arco de los Caletones is a rock formation located in the coast of La Garciosa Island, next to Lanzarote Island. In fact, it is an arch natural formation with volcano stones. It is next to the coast, so you can see as the water arrive to the arch, so it is a dramatic natural composition, which is very nice. Also, you can see some different colour due to volcano stones.
