  1. 4.5 Parque Natural de Corralejo (10.7k reviews)
    - Try to Go in the Morning!
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Parque Natural de Corralejo image
The morning light is amazing and great for photos, plus there is generally less wind (certainly not always) I was there alone with no other people! The dunes can have a lot of wind packed sand so it’s not too difficult to walk in barefoot- I recommend keeping sandals on for the first 50 feet as there is some fresh glass it seems closer to the roads. When climbing up the dunes it is a bit softer, but such fun in bare feet. If you go later in the day be prepared for wind gusts and consider taking a scarf or face guard. Easy to drive to and park and do on your own. If you are taking the public bus it is at least 1.5 km to walk south from the hotel Rui bus stop area along the highway. Road has a great shoulder so it’s safe to walk on. Note the bus schedule is on the half hourish for pick ups to Corralejo and about 20 past and 10 to the hour going to Puerto del Rosario. On Sundays there is 1/2 as many buses (so pick ups at 1/2 past and 20 past only) See more..

    Barranco de Guayadeque image
We heard about the ravine and its caves from the bar staff in our hotel. We did not know much but since we had a rented car, we decided to drive there one day. The museum at the beginning of the ravine was very informative about the life of the native people, how they lived in the caves, stored food, buried the dead etc. It's a must to visit. Further up the ravine you can see people still living in the cave houses and you can walk up and visit them. We found one that is a souvenir shop too so we could enter. Further up there is a dead end where the road goes up a mountain. There is a lovely restaurant there with good and interesting food (not just the usual tapas food) at reasonable prices. Great for a day trip. See more..
  6. 4.5 Bosque de Los Tilos (477 reviews)
    - Wonderful adventure
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests
    Bosque de Los Tilos image
Monday 22nd August and we drove to visit Los Tilos to see the waterfall and surrounding laurel forest. It was rather special walking through the forest under the canopy of the tall trees above us, providing shade from the hot sun overhead. Some of the pathways are lined with rustic made wooden balustrades. We walked through part of the forest on our way to see waterfall. The landscape was rocky and mountainous, we were surprised to see trees and bushes growing out of the rocks. Having visited the waterfall we walked along pathways criss crossing the forest and we ended up by the small Visitors Centre. From here a number of forest walks start, of various lengths, ours was a brief but enjoyable adventure. In a hollow, in the forest, nearby the Visitors Centre, that was a small restaurant. See more..
