  2. 4.5 Morro del Jable (2.194 reviews)
    - Busy place - extensive beach- windy
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Morro del Jable image
I went on a road trip to the South of Fuerteventura- definitely wanted to see this beach and what the community was like. Beach is endless! It goes forever. Great for walking barefoot Be prepared for WIND! While it’s sunny - there is always a strong wind going in several directions. You will get a free ‘sand scrub’ while walking or laying on I’m the beach. Surf was yellow flag today and I saw many people enjoying the surf in February. It’s a pretty big walk to the beach and parking may be challenging to find a spot - so if mobility is an issue know there is a drive down and drop off area so you can reduce the travel. Lots of condos, hotels, and shops/restaurants on the avenue. A few beach bars exist and there are bathrooms (just ask the cafe they will direct you to where they are). Was a great opportunity to see the gorgeous colours of the water and beautiful beach. Nice to see so many walking and bring their kids out to play. See more..

    - Worth a visit at any time

Mercado Municipal Nuestra Senora de Africa image
This is worth a visit even if the market is not open, just to see the architectural beauty of the buildings. The market was just closing before Christmas when we visited so we did not make any purchases. But it was fascinating to see the beautiful building. I hope to go back when the market is open! Centro Historico de San Cristobal de la Laguna image
This beautiful town centre is well worth a visit. The mansions are beautiful, pop your head in any open doors and see the leafy courtyards. It’s a feast for the eyes and there are more than enough cafes and bars to enjoy a feast for the tummy too. It’s cooler than on the coast in winter so wrap up a little warmer. The free and street parking was totally full on a Friday lunchtime, but we parked no problem in the ‘central’ car park. See more..

  7. 4.5 Salinas Marinas de Fuencaliente (1.042 reviews)
    - Very Interesting, but mind where you walk
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Salinas Marinas de Fuencaliente image
A very interesting place to visit. There is a self-guided circular walk with informative boards explaining the process of natural salt harvesting. The information centre and restaurant/cafe offers good food and drinks at reasonable prices and is an excellent setting to watch a sunset. One note of caution: the pathways are uneven with gravel and volcanic ash, which hides some larger rocks underneath. It is easy to trip over these bigger stones that are hidden by the smaller, loose gravel. My wife unfortunately suffered a nasty trip, falling heavily and cutting knees and arms quite badly. Watch your footing carefully. See more..

    Anfi Playa image
Went here based on it being one of the top beaches in gran canaria. Even though i think Amadores beach is prettier, this is a nice small beach with a lot of people and action. Drinks served by the nearby bar and restaurants right by the beach. See more..

Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks
    Puerto de Corralejo image
Visited Corralejo at the end of August & at the end of September, & took a few strolls along the harbour edge. In August things were starting to look a bit busier, with more peeps around, but by the end of September, after the British & German Quarantine restrictions, plus the Spanish kiddies going back to school, the place was so much quieter. Fingers crossed the Winter season gets chance to develop. See more..

    - STUNNING MOUNTAIN JOURNEY - ENDING IN BETANCURIA
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Iglesia Catedral de Santa Maria de Betancuria image
Travelling through stunning mountain scenery we arrived at Betancuria, situated in a green valley with stunning palm trees and attractive canarian houses with its cathedral. 0ver the years (the last 20yrs) there are some changes in this village. There are now cafe's and gift shops and a chargeable toilet (1 euro each) and a charge of 1.50 euro to visit the cathedral. A lady awaits just within the walls to collect the money. There is also a 3d cinema with its coffee shop, once again chargeable. This is the most attractive village on the island and well worth a visit. There are a few steep hills to climb so disabled people need to be aware. See more..
  13. 4.0 Faro de Morro Jable (469 reviews)
    - Working Lighthouse
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Faro de Morro Jable image
Dominating the view from our holiday apartment, this is still a working lighthouse. A stroll along the wooden boardwalk brings you up close & then you can see the 'obligatory' graffiti, that unfortunately all lighthouses attract. Situated in the middle of the 3km Playa del Matorral, it can been seen from both ends & beyond. See more..

    - A must-see visit in Betancuria - pity no cafe or toilets.

    Mirador Morro Velosa image
4 November 22 weather was spectacular. The air was clear and the 360 degree view was wonderful. The barrier was open so we could drive to the car park. No strong winds and an easy climb from the car park to the nearby peak. The cafe and toilets still in an abandoned state. See more..
  15. 5.0 Bosque del Cedro (263 reviews)
    - Fairy tale forest
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Bosque del Cedro image
We walked for a day from Hermigua more or less following the El Cedro stream passing the waterfall, making a roundabout south of El Cedro area and back to Hermigua. Several hiking alternatives but rather steep and only for the sure footed. Also easy walks are possible in this fascinating forest. See more..
  16. 4.5 Valle de Hermigua (229 reviews)
    - Long Village
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Valle de Hermigua image
The Village of Hermigua is reported be 1 of the longest villages in the Canary Islands. It is situated all along the Valle, both sides & all the way down to an underwhelming beach, & at the other end is the Roques Pedro y Petra, a pair of bookend type rocks & also Mirador de San Juan, giving a fantastic view of the valley. Amazing place to visit. See more..
  17. 4.5 Calle O'Daly (196 reviews)
    - Lovely colonial style walk
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
    Calle O'Daly image
Memorable and friendly colonial era street, originally drafted by the bright Cremonan engineer Leonardo Torriani back in the 16th century. This southern half of Santa Cruz's High Street is named after one of the town's most well remembered local improvers, Sr.D. O'Daly, who made a mark on making the town grand and democratic in the 18th century. The street is exclusively pedestrian, and starts on the now-restored "Nitrato de Chile" ceramic poster, continuing nortwards. Numerous well-supplying shops are lined up and offer a historic and also a romantic walk. Awesome architecture is abundant, that would obviously be superb to see when guided by a local expert. Nacientes de Marcos y Cordero image
We hiked all the way from los Sauces. For That you need to be fit, and it takes a whole day. All the way to the casa Montaña, it is one big hike upwards! Not the best view and quite though. For Those who dont like that... there are taxis who can take you there. Then its a nice easy walk along a levada to the waterfalls. Though the tunnels are quite long and narrow, so bring a flashlight, a poncho and watertight boots! See more..
  19. 4.5 Poris o Prois de Candelaria (122 reviews)
    - A frightening drive to get there
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
Poris o Prois de Candelaria image
If you are a nervous driver don't go there. The drive down from Tijarafe is the steepest I have ever experienced. The road is very narrow and you find yourself praying you don't meet a car going in the opposite direction !!!! We met 2 and reversing was a nightmare. However, if you do decide to go you will have a 15 minute walk from the car park before reaching one of the most amazing places I have ever seen and people actually live there. This really is an astonishing experience. But prepare yourself for the drive back up to the village. See more..

    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Roques Pedro y Petra image
Starting in Vallehermoso you have along hard climb up to the Restaurante Roque Blanco and view point. We found this to be the best walk out of 7 that we did. The trail is fairly easy and the views great. Best views if you go up the road towards the resivoir and up to Calle del Teon and approach from the South. Easy trails to follow. See more..

    - Beautiful views over the island
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
    Mirador de Jinama image
It was our first mirador visited at el Hierro and it was simply breathtaking. The weather was perfect and we could see the entire la Frontera region and the mountain chain. We also took an hour stroll along the ridge just to enjoy this beauty. Good to know that from this mirador starts the hiking treck with the same name, which used to serve the only connection between parts of island before roads were built. See more..

    Pozo de las Calcosas image
It was a last minute decision to come here and it was the right one. Being there off season and strolling though empty tiny streets was charming and creepy at the same time. The village was completely abandoned as everyone just left yesterday. Having entire village at our disposition, We spent a good couple of hours swimming in the pool, enjoying views of the raging Atlantic, and discoveing architectural miracles of the fisherman village. The final reward of the day was a stunning sunset upon our return to the parking lot. See more..
