Took the 102 bus to Santa Cruz, then boarded the 122 to the Basilica. Lovely day out, bus journey comfortable. 16.50 euros return altogether for both journeys for 2 people. Too much history to write about this place but take a trip if possible. Lovely little town for a day out, black sand on beach, will definitely visit again if we return to Tenerife. See more..

This beautiful old church is on the old road into Frontera and is well worth a visit. Whilst here we also found about about the Easter service from the english speaking young priest and were fortunate enough to join the local community for a beautifully intimate nigh time service. We were even invited to jion the locals for hot chocolate in the attached community rooms after the service. Sunday mass (at least during our visit) was @ 12.00 were again we were made to feel very welcome by the local congregation. Even if you are not religious it is an exceptionally beautiful church with a large bell tower erected on the hillside behind the church but overlooking it. Its quite a climb up to it but its worth the effort for the view. Many thanks to the local congregation and priest for making us so welcome. Highly recommended with the added bonus of a very good local and good value restaurant directly across the road.See more..
