El Cotillo Beach & Lagoons, Canary Islands, Spain

4.5 (2.724 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Canary Islands Beaches

You could be in the Caribbean

Amazing place to sunbathe and swim in sheltered lagoons. Either head for the couple of beach areas or into the quieter rock shelters in the sand dunes if the wind is blowing excessively. Spectacular waves breaking onto the rocks are just mesmerising. Further out there are naturists scattered about the rocky areas. This place is one of the most relaxed and favourite beaches to visit in the world. Take your own picnic if you're staying for any length of time although there is a food and drink shack, but we didn't try it. The town is just a short stroll away with many restaurants and views.

    Needs tidying
Where is Torinos? Removed by the council apparently to return the he lagoons to their natural state. Despite the existing buildings sand new walkway etc. no where now to buy refreshment and some of the debris still left there. The area is also spoilt by litter and yesterday 20 campervans parked for extended stays. Where do they dispose of the poo? 4 dogs also left to roam by the campervanners. Who picks up their poo.

Beautiful beaches but too many nudists!
Beautiful golden sand beaches and clear blue sea with a shallow lagoon at high tide. The main Concha beach is naturally protected by rocks so feels safer than the main beaches when it is a bit rough. It would have been perfect but for the numerous naked people who seem to insist on walking close by us and standing nearby. Considering, due to Covid, people are supposed to be social distancing, they were unsocial and far too close for my liking! Since Fuerteventura seem allow naked sunbathing everywhere we can't seem to get away from them, and it has almost put us off returning here after previous visits. I don't mind if they keep themselves to themselves, but they don't, and seem to relish in coming by clothed people and standing close by for what seems like a long period of time.
