Great Day Out
As we were staying in Puerto de la Cruz Loro Parque was a must. You can catch the free yellow Road train in the town or if you want to walk its about 30 mins. We didn't pre book just paid on entrance as the price was the same €40 each, but as we got there just after it opened the queue was very small and we didn't have to wait long. One in you are given a map of the park that includes the timetables for all the shows, we recommend planning your shows as you don't want to miss any. As we arrived at 9.30 we went from show to show to get them all done 1st then spent the rest of our visit enjoying all the other attractions at our leisure. There are plenty of places to get food and drink but be prepared its a little expensive and can get very busy at lunchtime. We chose to take a little picnic and found a quiet little spot to eat it. Obviously the Orca Whales, the Dolphins, the sealing and the parrot shows are the big attractions but there is plenty to see outside of these. You can easily spend all day here.

Extremely well kept zoo
The zoo and most of the park have the wow factor. The maintenance is amazing and gardens are beautiful. We did the tour and our guide was lovely. I just don’t think you have enough time to look around for yourself, do the shows and do the tour in one day. The tour is 27euros each but you get vouchers towards your lunch included in that. There’s some interesting information given along the way but you don’t really get to see any animals exclusively. I’m glad we did it but wouldn’t again as like I said, we didn’t have enough time. The shows - I have to say, on most we have seen better. The sea lions was the best show. The dolphins was good. The bird show was mostly parrots flying around. The orca show was mainly just information on how they are doing good by keeping them there. This is the one I needed them to convince me they’re doing good but unfortunately they didn’t convince me. The whole park would be better without them. The fact that they have actually bred one really doesn’t sit right with me. The park would be much better without them. If you sit in the ‘splash zone’ be prepared to get absolutely soaked not just splashed. After visiting the other zoos in the Canary Islands and having a ‘dodgy’ knee I was worried about the hills. It’s not as bad as the others and the paths are good. Unfortunately like I said earlier the shows were much better at the others. I have given it 5 stars despite these niggles as it is extremely well kept. I would recommend going and if you want to return again within 14 days you can do for 13euros but you need to book this on leaving the park.
