4.5Xi Zha(43 reviews) - A must-visit! Points of Interest & Landmarks
Wuzhen is one of the most beautiful water towns I've ever visited and some say it's even reminiscent of Venice! Stay for a night and enjoy the peace and serenity when day tourists have left...the scenery also changes a fair bit in the day and night. The boat ride is a must-do when you're here as the boatman rides slowly through the town for you to take in the sights along the way. Food at the restaurants here are also not overpriced and generally tastes good. Try their local Wuzhen yellow wine with your dishes! Warm it and add plum for a better taste.See more..

See more..

4.0East Zha(17 reviews) - Big Folk Village/Theme Park showcasing Chinese Culture Points of Interest & Landmarks
If you are into Chinese culture, this is a must visit place. The place is located in between Suzhou and Hangzhou, so it's a little off the beaten path. It is an actual town dating back from 500 BC. People still actually live here. Some of the houses are converted into public exhibits showing ancient wine making, cloth dying (you see some of this in kungfu movies), bed store, etc. Some are exhibits showing the various festivals and ceremonies practiced in China. Make sure you don't accidentally enter a private residence. You can ride a boat to the other end and then walk back. The boatmen even serenades you on the way. Most visitors here are locals from the parts of China, so it may be very crowded during Chinese holidays.See more..
4.5Xiandu Dinghu Peak(16 reviews) - Great Hike Friday: 6:57 AM - 5:31 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
To walk all the way up to the top of the mountain is challenging in places and ended up being a good workout. The views are quite nice from the top. There is a vendor serving ice cream and drinks at the top so it hit the spot. Alternatively you can also take a team up and down the back side of the mountain. It is a good option for those who can't make the hike up. At the base there is a small temple and a river you walk over to/from the parking lot. The water was chilly. After you are done there are various restaurants across the street from the parking lot. All local food.See more..
Lovely open beach for a full family day. Interesting and beautiful sand sculptures that the kids would love. Each year hold a different theme to the sculptures. During my visit I seen the older sculptures (Fairytales) in the gardens, and the build up to the Beijing Olympics were on the main beach area. There are also lovely water bicycles you can take out on the ocean. If you prefer relaxing, you can grab a book and relax on the soft sandy shores.See more..
4.0Zhaobao Mountain(15 reviews) - pricey for a weekend excursion. Friday: 6:00 AM - 5:02 PM Mountains • Points of Interest & Landmarks
Take the 541 bus from railway station until the last terminal (around 1 hour) you will arrive at this small park at the east end of Zhenhai District. Walking to the top of the hill you will find Buddhist temple and pagoda where you can enjoy 360 view of the bay and towards the city. This is also the site where the Chinese navy defend their position during Battle of Zhenhai (Sino-French War), with dedicated war museum down the hill. Just nice for a stroll when you have some time to kill. Standard ticket price is a pricey 60RMB, so bring student card for discount.See more..
Fun day trip from Shanghai. Good weather is a must. Had driver & English speaking guide to get us there & back. Found local agency to take group of 10 for much less that I saw posted. See more..
Having done rafting in other countries, we thought we should give it a try in China, especially since Anji is quite well known for this activity. For starters, I will clarify that this is not the same as the type of rafting in Alaska or New Zealand. In fact, the Chinese word actually translates to drifting. Two are allocated to each dinghy, although they allow for single riders or three riders, provided the child is of a very young age. You drift through a series of “rapids” which are really more like water slides. Each dinghy are provided with a pair of oars and a water scoop. The latter comes in very handy as water tends to flow into the dinghy after going through each “rapid”. We went as a group of about 20 people and all of us had a great time. The only thing that wasn’t so good is the wait and the crowds. If you are also not good with crowds, then I would suggest against going on a weekend or vacation period. See more..
4.0Zoumatang Ancient Village(13 reviews) - Cool little spot Friday: 7:55 AM - 4:33 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks

4.0Jiaxing Fanli Lake(12 reviews) - Great little find Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
What a wonderful little find. Searching on Google it shows the area and a couple of photo points but I couldn't find any images online. There are now, all mine :) I went on a midweek morning and the place was deserted, 2 people fishing, 2 walking their dogs and 1 bathing in the Hangzhou to Beijing canal. There is a pagoda which was closed so I couldn't go up and get a better view of the area, a few little bridges, plenty of water surrounding the place and seats to chill out all around. I couldn't find anywhere for food or drinks so take whatever you need. In summer at least a bottle of water. Although once you leave the park there are lots of local shops. Like all Chinese parks it is immaculately clean and well worth a bit of your time. I spent an hour there photographing before heading off to Yuehe by foot. If you want to sit and chill, watch a bit of nature then allow up to 2 hours.See more..

4.0Jiande Xinye Mandarin(9 reviews) - Xinye Ancient Village was the high light of my cycling trip in China Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
I arrived mid afternoon after cycling from Qiandao Hu and took a punt I would be able to find somewhere to sleep. By chance a local young man was also riding back home and we struck up a conversation (I am learning Mandarin), he took me directly to the door of a well equipped private accommodation with en-suite, right in town near Western Hill Memorial Temple. I am sure if you went to the temple and make sleeping signs someone would do the same for you, the locals are so friendly. I was then able to stroll this beautiful village in the evening and morning when the light just makes the reflections and building magical. I saw the usual farming activities and also the early morning market in full swing before tourists came into town. There are many old structures and public buildings to visit and friendly locals if you are lucky. This village is very authentic and has not been commercialised. Highly recommended.See more..
4.0Guodong Village(9 reviews) - Very tranquil, fantastic meal , must visit if in Yiwu , but go when quiet Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
Went for a walk around the village , very rustic , and very friendly . Typical olde Chinese architecture , and a beautiful setting surrounded by forest. Had a fantastic dinner I. A very local restaurant, would recommend the rice stuffed bamboo cooked on an open charcoal fire ! Admittedly I visited in October , in the evening. I can imagine during the summer it would be packed !See more..

4.5Quzhou Yaowang Mountain(8 reviews) - Yaowang Shan a decent hike if in Quzhou with nothing to do Friday: 6:00 AM - 5:02 PM Mountains • Points of Interest & Landmarks
It is a decent place 40 minutes by car from Quzhou. The waterfalls are nice but not spectacular. I saw monkeys on the way back. Paths are manicured and very well maintained; that is no garbage everywhere unlike most Chinese tourist places. A bit unnatural for my liking but if you are in Quzhou with nothing to do, it is worth two-three hours. 129RMB gets you inside the park, access to the glass bridge, and a glass carpet ride down. I didn’t do the ride and preferred the nice 15 minute natural walk down.See more..

4.0MeiWan Jie(8 reviews) - Quick walk around and nothing special Points of Interest & Landmarks
I have walked most of Jiaxing in a year there as a photographer. I found Meiwan area and had a look around. It is a typical Chinese rebuild, where the old has been renovated to sort of half and half, you know it has old character but somehow it oozes new style. You can easily walk around in half an hour and be underwhelmed, in my opinion there are many more interesting places in the city and most won't be on a map. It is easy to get to via taxi or bus stop is right outside. It is also a stop off point for the free ferry doing the Nanhu to Yuehe route so you could get lucky and catch that. I don't think this is a must see and to be honest the city offers lots of better places.See more..
