This forest walk was one of the most interesting and quiet places we found in the west lake area. We were there in winter and the forest lacked the beautiful green hue we were expecting from the dense bamboo but the layout of the paths, bridges, small creeks and pools of water that are provided as you trek up the hill create a sense of tranquility and relaxation. There are also a series of Buddhist tablets and tombs on the way up and a number of trees more than 1000 years old. At the top you will find a couple of shops and tea house (although not open at the time we were there) and a large pavilion crowning the view back down. What was most special about our visit here was that there were very few people around, seeing approx 5 groups in the 2 hours we were there, so either we it was a quiet time or this place is off the tourist map. Getting back down to west lake was also easy as there is a bus stop directly at the entrance. Highly recommend visiting of youre in the area! See more..
