A nice little walk not far from Quzhou. It's not a hard climb, nor very long, but will kill a few hours. The few times I have been there, it has always been almost empty. I really liked this place, a bit out of the way and buses full of old people shouting and kids running riot but just walk slowly and enjoy the peaceful moments when they are out of earshot. My trip started well when I explained in my broken Chinese to the lady at the front office that I just wanted to walk around, no extras like the boat trip. The sign says 'foreign visitors' 100Y but after she help me scan the barcode I paid only 45, you need the barcode generated to get through an electronic turnstile to the centre. I was told masks are not compulsory and I didn't have to show my green health code. I arrived just after 9 and left around midday, 280 photo to the good and all but 10 of those had no people in them. Despite the many other people there I just walked off in a different direction or waited until they passed. My trip was weekday, I would imagine this place is very busy at weekends. Plenty of places to buy drink, even basic coffee shops and a couple of not very exciting restaurants so you may wish to bring food or avoid meal times. Do cover up and spray well, the place is by non flowing water and is a mosquito and bug heaven. Overall its a different place to go, you will need taxi to get there and back. I live roughly in the town centre and it cost me 57Y each way. You should be able to explore all of it in a few hours and if you find out about the geese and why they are there let me know.See more..
