Rainy day in Xitiang Ancient Town
The Xitang misty rain added charm to this peaceful, poetic ancient water-town. The rain slowed things down, as on my last visit the bars and restaurants were more lively.

Small Water Town with Character
This is one of the smaller water towns where the residents still live in the homes/buildings that line the canals making the whole experience more authentic in our minds. The water is still a dirty grey/brown but you can take a ride on a flat bottomed boat to better see how the people live. There are still commercial shops but it feels like a real working village. As the night falls the lights come on and the canals reflect them in the water making the experience more Disneyesque. We preferred Xitang over Zhujiajiao for its small town atmosphere.
