5 Star Places To Visit in Mississippi, United States (50)
5.0Betsy Ann Riverboat(2.160 reviews) - Wonderful date night, can't wait to bring kids! Boat Tours • Eco Tours • Night Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours
My husband is doing training at Keesler AFB and my 6 children and I traveled down from Kansas City to see him for spring break and our 12th anniversary. For our date night we came to the BetsyAnn ecological sunset cruise. We loved learning about the area, and the views were fantastic. It got chilly and many people went to the lower level inside. My husband and I enjoyed having the higher level mostly to ourselves and dancing to the music while watching the sunset. We actually met in dance class nearly 14 years ago so it was super nostalgic and special for us. The service was amazing, everyone was friendly, checked in on us, greeted us by name, and made it very fun and relaxing The only negative I had is that I SO wish our kids could of come with us. We were on a tight time schedule to book again, but hopefully someday we can return. I know our 10, 9, 7, 4, 4, and 1 year Olds would have loved it.See more..

The comprehensive and interactive exhibits are well worth the 15 dollar adult admission. Other highlights include a complete sound recording studio from BB King's house with his personal guitars. After paying for admission, the tour starts in a video auditorium. After the video finishes, their is a non-descript door on the side to star touring the exhibits. The gift shop has some good memorabilia items relating to delta music. 5.0North Star Sailing Charters(235 reviews) - Highly recommend a wonderful sailing experience Saturday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Boat Tours
I booked with North Star for my bachelorette trip. We had a wonderful wonderful time on the boat! Mr. Jim was very kind and taught us many things about sailing, the MS coast, and the MS Sound. Mr. Jim was also very flexible with time. Our sail was to be at 5:30pm but weather was moving in that wouldn’t allow us to sail at that time. Jim was very kind as to adjust our sailing time so we could still enjoy a sail on the water that day. I highly recommend booking with North Star Sailing Charters if you are ever on the MS coast.See more..

5.0Lauren Rogers Museum of Art(140 reviews) - Not just an art museum! Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:45 PM Art Museums
I'm not really an art connoisseur, so I was happy that this museum also contained a nice mix of Native baskets, silver, and a really cool guitar display. Admission is free, so it's a great way to spend a couple of hours. It's also directly across the street from the Grandiflora, which is the #1 bed and breakfast in Mississipi, so we were able to walk to the museum which was a bonus.See more..
5.0First Presbyterian Church(134 reviews) - A must-see exhibit before touring Natchez Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
We stopped by the exhibition "Natchez in Historic Photographs" and ended up spending two hours enjoying the photographs. One can really get a sense of the history of the city, and this exhibit should be required viewing as a prelude to touring the city. We have visited Natchez many times over the years, and we learned so much from these old photographs. They are beautifully presented in a quiet and open area. Many of them left us feeling a bit melancholy, others left us longing for the "good old days."See more..

If in Natchez and on the mansion circuit, do not pass up Choctaw Hall. This is the only tour we have ever been on where the lifelong owner gives the tour. And what a wonderful tour it was. Mr. Garner, a descendant of the builders of the Hall, was a charming southern gentleman, interesting and knowledgable about every aspect of the home and its vast contents, and the way of life there from the 19th century to date. We spent the first 40 minutes of the tour in the gentleman's living room, sitting as guests and not tourists, listening to Mr Garner's personal and family story. Then on to a tour of this beautiful home. No docents, no ropes blocking rooms, just a new friend showing off his home and life. See more..

Our trip was incredible and something we’ll never forget! We chartered a 4 hour fishing trip with Captain Mike of Fish-Finder Charters on the morning of Saturday August 14, 2021. He and deckhand Jason gave us a warm welcome as we came onto the boat. After a wonderful journey to deeper water, Captain Mike got us into some great spots for catching RedFish. Jason provided great help in landing the many fish we caught (much bigger than the trout I normally catch in Colorado). After a few hours, we caught more than enough that the three of us could eat in the short time we were in Biloxi. We appreciated that Mike and Jason advised us on how many fish to keep helped us release others. Jason cleaned and bagged our fish so we could go over to the Fillin’ Station (recommended by Captain Mike). The Fillin’ Station staff deliciously prepared a feast of our catch — fried and grilled! Overall, a beautiful day on the water in a beautiful boat. Thanks Mike and Jason!!See more..
Conditions were horrible. Water was muddy. Tide was out and water vert shallow. Cold front moved in during the night. It was cloudy, cool and windy. Jonathan, my son, and I put on several layers of clothes, loaded up and went anyway. Total count on the redfish is an estimate, but it was easily, between 50 and 60. 16 were in the slot, so we were throwing back keepers by the end of the day, we also picked up a couple of flounder, a couple of sheepshead, a baby black drum. We ran out of shrimp at 1:00 and called it a day. Captain Brodie just knows how to find them. Even got me to smile for the picture. See more..

5.0Tupelo Veteran's Museum(86 reviews) - Me. Lute makes history come alive. Military Museums • History Museums
The best part of the museum— aside from the amazing number of interesting artifacts— is Mr. Tony Lute. Friendly and courteous, Mr. Lute seems to know about everything in the museum, but he doesn’t overwhelm you with talk—- just makes himself available to answer any questions , tell an interesting story, or drop an amazing fact. We are senior citizens who took a 13 year old boy and 7 year old girl. Both of them enjoyed the museum so much, and, of course, we did. Everyone should visit!See more..

5.0Longleaf Trace(70 reviews) - This is an awesome bike trail!!! Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
I just started riding in December. So I was concerned about 40 miles. So the first day we parked in Sumrall and rode to Prentiss wow i did 51 miles. It's not any big hills just a few slow inclines that you can feel when your tired. Beautiful farm land and the best was no traffic coming up behind you. You have to cross and few highways but its all posted so you can see them. Plenty of restrooms and rest stops and a few raindrops with shelters incase it rains. I didn't have a problem with the 51 miles the first day. Second day we rode from Hattiesburg to Sumrall and back around 30 miles. I do believe the easier route is from Prentiss to Hattiesburg. The path is well taken care of ...and if you need any parts etc for your bike go by and see the nice people at Hattiesburg bycycle center on 38th avenue. They were a big help to us. We are already looking at when we can go back.See more..

One of the best resort golf courses I have experienced. From your arrival till when you leave, the staff treats you like royalty. They literally take care of everything. Your vehicle to your golf shoes. Hope to go back soon when the weather is a little more dry. They did have 8 holes on the front nine that were off the path. Sadly our GPS took 5 holes to reset so we had to stay on the path but it felt like the entire staff worked to fix it. One of my favorite bars as well. Love the big windows looking out on the 18th hole. Really enjoyed our time watching the Open during our rain delay.See more..
My 8 and 10 yr old sons loved this tour as much as we did! They expected to see a bunch of alligators, which didn’t happen, but they still said this was their favorite part of our 10-day trip to MS. They learned more in 2+ hrs than they would have reading half a dozen books. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, approachable, and patient. Several times she turned the boat back so we could get a closer look at something we missed. My husband and I appreciated the calm, relaxing environment and the gorgeous views, especially the amazing sunset! With COVID-19 going around, their tour times are more limited, so I definitely recommend calling a few days or a week before you intend to head out onto the water.See more..

Have gone on two trips with Captain Sonny. First trip we navigated around some bad weather and still managed to pick up some nice reds. Second trip in June we loaded the boat with quite a few healthy speckled trout and hooked into a few bull reds. Our crew only landed one of the reds but had a ton of fun with the fights. Captain Sonny is extremely attentive, well prepared, great at keeping the conversation going with the adults and kids…best of all he knows where the fish are! Great trip…definitely going back again.See more..
5.0Saint Rose de Lima Catholic Church(25 reviews) - Beautiful RC Church with wonderful gospel singers Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
We attended mass there on Easter Sunday. There was an outside procession before mass led by the gospel singing choir. The walls at the front of the Church behind the altar are painted with a beautifully unique fresco. The mass was packed and every nook and cranny held someone. The mass and procession was almost an 11/2 hours long, but it just didn't seem it. When we visit Biloxi over a weekend, we drive to the Church for Sunday mass. We wouldn't miss it. (The Church is known primarily as being a Black Parish, the only one of it's kind I've ever come across. I'm sure it's one of the few, with a spirited old-time gospel choir)See more..
