  2. 3.0 Tupelo National Battlefield (118 reviews)
    - Small battlefield in Tupelo

There really isn't much to it but a memorial, a cannon, and some graves. That said, it is worth taking the time to walk the ground and see what is left of a battlefield that has been enveloped by commercialism and property grabs. There is a little sliver of a parking area just off the road, but you would be best served driving past the battlefield and doing a turn around to park facing direction of travel. I wonder if Elvis was ever "in the building" as a kid when he lived in Tupelo? See more..

I came for the disc golf course, which was great. But the park itself is nice. The playground area is updated and clean. There’s the lodge with restrooms, a basketball court and more. The campground area was busy with a dozen or so of the units being used. There wasn’t anyone at the entry shack, and no envelopes, but I was able to pay at the lodge, and they even could take credit cards. Overall it was a great visit and I look forward to going back. We stayed at Big Biloxi Campground, $20/night with electricity and water, tables, fire rings and a bathhouse with a shower for each side. The bathhouse could use some TLC. The sites were fairly large, some were secluded from neighbors. We used this location to allow us to enjoy a float down Black Creek which was a beautiful area. We also explored the other more primitive campgrounds which all looked cared for, some had a flush toilet. There is a longer hiking trail beside Black Creek and we saw the trailheads but did not hike it. There is more to explore and we plan to do that. See more..
  6. 5.0 Tombigbee National Forest (2 reviews)
    - Beautiful Lake!
    National Parks • Forests
This was a beautiful lake. The grounds were well maintained, and the bath houses & restrooms were clean and well stocked. Its pet friendly, and a lot of people had their pups with them. There are 21 camp sites, with people hiking, cycling, kayaking, walking, and swimming. There is a large covered pavilion with a fireplace where everyone can gather to have lunch, and a playground for the children to have some fun. The small town of Ackerman, MS was just down the highway, where we went for last minute camping supplies. There was not a lot of excessive noise and we had an extremely quite and pleasant weekend stay! See more..
