    - A beautiful "little" roadside gem...

    Palestine Gardens image
Yes it's WAY off the beaten path, but this beautiful "little" roadside gem is really worth the trip!! This is a scale model of the Holy Land constructed in the 60's by Reverend Walter Harvell Jackson. The current owner, Mr. Don Bradley, took us on a guided tour through the park... along the way he explained how all the cities tied to together and shared many stories. His combination of personal testimony and Biblical truth make him and the park an amazing witness. It was a really great time! Check out their webpage: http://www.palestinegardens.org/ See more..

Whether you're stopping to stretch your legs in the gardens or touring the house, we think you will enjoy stepping back in time at The Oaks House Museum. To schedule a tour on a day we're not open, please contact us at the email or phone number in our listing. About us: The Oaks (Boyd House) was built circa 1853 and is one of few extant structures in Mississippi's capital city that survived the ravages of the Civil War. An urban farmstead, it was the home of early Jackson mayor, James H. Boyd, his wife Eliza, and their six children and numerous grandchildren. The house, with original and period furnishings, and its Victorian gardens transport the visitor to 19th-century life in Jackson. The Oaks is owned by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Mississippi and is administered by The Oaks House Museum Corporation. See more..
