2 Star Places To Visit in Iowa, United States (12)
2.5Westfair Amphitheater(7 reviews) - The show was great, but venue management is a joke. Theaters
The music was tremendous. The Old 97’s, Steve Earle, and the Turnpike Troubadours were great. The weather was great. After that, things went downhill. This place has NO COMMUNICATION. Their FB page says “you can always send a message” which is a technically not a lie because you can “send” all the messages you want, but they’re all blocked or something because all messages get bounced back. They have an email address listed on their website, but once again, it doesn’t work. They NEVER answer the phone. I was able to get a response one time when I originally bought the tickets and their answer was snarky. Here are some pointers: 1) use an Uber. Parking is awful. 2) they don’t have enough beer vendors…think 20-30 minutes in line. 3) there are no seats and they don’t allow lawn chairs. 4) if you can catch a show somewhere else, I’d recommend that.See more..

2.5Cedar River Tank Tours(3 reviews) - Brilliant way to spend a Saturday afternoon River Rafting & Tubing
Cedar Rapids Tank Tours runs a really fun, well organised float down the Cedar River in an agricultural water / feed tank. These are massive, circular plastic tanks that look a lot like an overgrown kiddie pool and have a table, umbrella and bench chairs fixed in them. We got collected in a bus from the Solon Nature and Rec area, halfway between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids and were helped into our tank. We had an awesome afternoon, floating down the river and getting out on sandbars to swim and explore. You can also rent float tubes and be towed along behind the tank. Rick and the team were very friendly & helpful & were around and about in a safety boat to make sure everyone was OK. The float ends at Sutliff Bridge and you get taken back to your car in the bus. It's a really relaxing, super fun way to spend a summer day in Iowa. Definitely recommend it.See more..

2.5Rice Lake State Park(3 reviews) - Minnesota Nice.....but Iowa Much Nicer Spent < 1 hour State Parks There's a Rice Lake State Park in Minnesota also, about 50 miles north of here. These two parks could hardly be different. The Minnesota park is not much more than a piece of land, mowed every few months (or less) and situated near a swampy body of muddy water and cattails, 10 miles to the nearest town of any size. The place was deserted, except for a couple of DNR guys, who eyed me suspiciously as if daring me to get out of the car, The Iowa park is well-groomed and the lake glittered in the sunlight. Lots of people out and about, picnicking, playing catch with the kids, or taking walks, and just about everyone waved when I passed by. The small but bustling town of Lake Mills was clearly visible on the opposite shore.See more..

2.0Banner Lakes At Summerset State Park(1 review) - Didn’t stay long State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas My husband and I wanted to wear out our dogs so we chose this park because the google images looked alright but we did not stay longer than 10 minutes. They say dogs are allowed but on leashes but there was a dog that was running around, following us. The park also has a lot of trash everywhere. We saw a broken cash register laying near the water. We left and went to Brown’s instead. See more..
2.0Downtown Lounge(1 review) - Disappointed Bars & Clubs Was on a motorcycle road trip when we stopped in for dinner. Food was decent, but bartender inept. Ordered two short captain and cokes. Got two talls that tasted like straight soda. Asked nicely for a shot for each drink because the drinks were pure soda. She made a lame excuse about the fountain pop not working, gave us each a shot and charged us for 4 drinks. As a result, she received a short tip. Won't be back.See more..
