5.0Surf Ballroom(351 reviews) - WOW WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bars & Clubs
I traveled to Clear Lake to visit the Surf Ballroom and I am glad I did. I didn't know what to expect but when I arrived I was overwhelmed with history. The ballroom is preserved just as it was when Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens played their last show here. From the original wood floors to the thousands of signatures on the walls of the green room, the Surf Ballroom is history every where you look. The wall are covered with autographed photos and artifacts from those that have played here. You can see B. B. Kings Guitar and Charlie Daniel's Fiddle. Plus this place is still making history as it is still a very active music venue. Admission is free but a $5.00 donation is suggested. I spent about 2-hours here and loved every minute.See more..
LeClaire, Iowa. It's a special place. A place where life on the land is intimately married to the flow of the waters. For centuries, people here have looked to the water for a sense of calm, a spirit of enjoyment and a connection to a heritage that is uniquely their own. That marriage of land and water is now embodied in a different kind of spirit. The Mississippi River Distilling Company hand craft Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, and Specialty Spirits slow and pure near the banks of the Mississippi River. Born from the finest grains, harvested just up the hill from the distillery. It’s a spirit born of land and water that draws each of us curiously back to a different era. Made for you, not for for the masses.See more..
4.5Ledges State Park(74 reviews) - Great camping and hiking Bars & Clubs
This park is a true gem. The landscape within the park is gorgeous. The Clear Creek that runs through the park is fun to both sit in and splash with the kids (and getting splashed by the vehicles driving through) but also hiking the actual creek bed through the park, depending on the water level. The many trails (I think there were at least 9) within the park have varied hiking ability and changes in terrain. The camping areas and restrooms were well maintained. There are plenty of picnic areas along the one way drive through the park. We were surprised that Iowa does not have a day use fee for their state park and the camping fees are more than reasonable. A great time was had and we will be back.See more..
Fun atmosphere and nice views of the Lake. Food is self service and the atmosphere is laid back and extremely casual. Service is quick and the restaurant quality is typical bar food. Go for the tiki-hut experience and browse the shops, especially the boat showroom.See more..
The lobby is very, very crowded at the Funny Bone - you basically purchase your tickets and then stand packed like sardines until your show starts. There also needs to be a better lining-up system, as we arrived very early to the show we were seeing and then were bombarded by other visitors when trying to enter the show doors. Other than that, this is a nice place to visit and they do manage to bring in some VERY good acts. I would visit again, just wish they would improve on a few things.See more..

4.5SingleSpeed Brewing(31 reviews) - Must try Zach’s Mexican Donuts beer Friday: 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM Bars & Clubs
We enjoyed our recent visit to SingleSpeed. The bartender was very friendly and patient with all of our questions. He made great suggestions based on our expressed preferences for beer. We enjoyed the flight; and most of all the Zach’s Mexican Donuts beer. Very unique flavor, and surprisingly light for a dark-colored beer. We took home a growler of this delicious brew. See more..
4.5Fat Hill Brewing(30 reviews) - Great Place for Outstanding Craft Beer Friday: 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Bars & Clubs • Breweries
Fat Hill Brewing is a locally owned/operated 7-barrel craft brewery that opened in Mason City in December 2016. Our brewing facility and tap room in the long-vacant historic building at 17 N. Federal Avenue features sixteen taps, space for 140 patrons, and a busy calendar full of live music and special events. We have a creative, ever-changing beer menu in which we try to spotlight Iowa ingredients when we can, including wildflower honey from Nora Springs, aronia berries from Fertile, herbs from Mitchell, and hops from Cedar Falls. Our brewer, a FHB co-owner, loves to brew classic old-world styles like a dopplebock or porter, but also gets a kick out of adding his own spin on familiar beers (hibiscus in a saison, matcha in a wit, etc.). We are especially proud of our barrel aging program and our hazy citrus-bomb of a NEIPA. We strive for impeccable customer service and a strong sense of community in our tap room, as it's the only place in the world you can find our beer.See more..

The Gardens is your run of the mill shoreside bar. Lots of outside seating, small arcade area with 4x4 PAC Man and darts. Highlight of The Garden is their frozen drinks category. Get a Rum Runner or Frozen marg and enjoy the deck. Happy hour pricing is outrageously good. For a frozen drink, Bloody Mary packed with goodies like a beef stick, pickled asparagus and cheese, and a tall beer for $10.50. Total bargain! It’s dated and a bit rundown but the bathrooms are clean and the prices are great for a perfect view of the East part of West O. Must do: the $20 5pm Family friendly Siesta Cruise. Beer and wine and soda included. Great tool around West with music, friendly people, and Dawson who was, in fact, named after Dawson Leery from Dawson’s Creek. Totally amazing value.See more..
4.5Bobbers Grill(11 reviews) - A fun place, very friendly Bars & Clubs This is a bar and casual restaurant on the water. It is part of a seasonal campground, (many expensive motorhomes, very nice 5th wheels, big boats) has live bands, DJs, and a clientele that is older (40+ majority) - many people know each other from being in the marina or campground for the summer months. Bar has a big outside area in summer, and can get hundreds of people outside and another 100 inside. Not a rowdy place, just a friendly one, have bags, sand volleyball. The pizza is very good, and in Spring they have great prime rib on Fridays. Outdoor tiki bar has burgers etc when you come off a full day of boating or jet skiing. There are well over a 100 boats in slips here. Owners very responsible, keep things in check so I highly recommend.See more..

4.0SUGARS LOUNGE(11 reviews) - Date night with my wife. Bars & Clubs
So a date night at our age consists of a nice meal and shopping. We had eaten here I once before about 3 years ago a d had a nice meal so since we were in the area decided to try it again. The open area concept of the combination of Bar and dinning area blends nicely. It was fairly busy and the the noise from the bar was not a problem. The waitress was prompt and answered all our questions. Now for the food. I had the Pork tenderloin with onion rings, my wife had the Patty melt with waffle fries. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly, crust was crispy and light. The meat was tender and juicy. Garnish on the side. Onion rings were thick and cooked perfectly and the blue cheese I ordered to dip them in was thick. My wifes patty melt (which she ordered well done) was cooked the way she likes it. Her waffle fries were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle just the way they are supposed to be! We wont wait 3 years again before going back. See more..
4.5Clear Lake Tiki Bar(11 reviews) - Great food! Great views! Great brews! Bars & Clubs
What a delight! The Tiki Bar was recommended to us ( my sister and I) for a fun place to have lunch. The service and staff was the best. Friendly and attentive and food was amazing! I had a po’ boy sandwich that had the most amazing sauce and there was plenty of shrimp. We had a Tiki Bar brew that was made locally for them. We sat on the porch with great views of the lake. We arrived early and they were filling up. I would recommend calling for reservations if you have a large group. One thing to note. When we received our bill it was noted that they were transitioning from credit cards to cash so be sure to take along plenty of cash. We would definitely go again!See more..

3.5Seneca Street Saloon(10 reviews) - Good time in Webster City Friday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 AM Bars & Clubs Stopped in Webster City on our way back from New Orleans to Minneapolis and stopped in for a beer or two. Great atmosphere, friendly people, and the bartender/owner was a fantastic lady. My wife and I were amazed at the beer tapper that filled the glasses from the bottom. All in all a great evening and the pizza we had was good too!See more..
This past Wednesday the wifey and I decided to see the countryside as winter is losing it's grip. We stopped at the Whistling Donkey for lunch and were not disappointed. Great service and way above the normal bar fare! Fantastic stop if you are a bike rider as this is on the paved bike trail just west of the high bridge by Madrid. If you drove to the Whistling Donkey, I would recommend you head north out of town on Highway 210 and stay on it to Madrid, Iowa. This takes you down into and across the valley so you can see the height of the HIGH BRIDGE. This bridge was built by the Milwaukee Railroad and is awesome!See more..

5.0The Pour House(9 reviews) - Best Bar in Waverly Iowa. A Must Stop! Spent 1-2 hours Bars & Clubs
The Pour House in Waverly, IA has been a staple in the community for the past eleven years. Home to the largest American craft beer selection in town. 4.0Chappy's On Main(8 reviews) - I would go back to this place for sure Bars & Clubs
There are few option in Clarion but this was a nice little bar and I would go back for sure. It was my first time there; I guess there didn't used to be front windows. I'm thinking the windows were a good idea. During the daytime it was nice getting the natural light. All you can eat fish and chips was tempting but I ended up getting the chappy burger.See more..
We're from the QCA and decided it was time to take a trip to Clinton to go to Stouts. We'd heard all about their tenderloins so we had to check it out. Two of us got the fried tenderloin sandwiches, one go the fried tenderloin with mashed potatoes/gravy and one got the chicken cashew salad. We knew the tenderloins were large but had no idea how great they would taste! Everything was AMAZING!!! We all loved our meals and will return again soon. It's worth the trip from the QCA to have lunch there. Staff was very nice as well. It was clean with great atmosphere. It's a must eat at restaurant!See more..
4.0The Barn(8 reviews) - A great casual place to eat Bars & Clubs
Our group met for our weekly restaurant posting at the Barn. We were a group of 12 and soon another group of around 20 came in. They handled both groups with a smile and were very efficient. I had the hamburger basket which was very good and so many fries! However their beverage selection is geared toward beer and mixed drinks and not for wine drinkers.See more..

5.0Limey's Pub(8 reviews) - New review Friday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 AM Bars & Clubs Wanted to give my favorite pub a newer review since it seems it's been awhile since they've had one. I have been going here for years. We meet here with friends and family on a regular basis. The food here is awesome! Everyone I know loves the cheese balls, my favorite is the Alfredo special pizza, my wife loves the buffalo chicken wrap. The burgers and sandwiches are all great with large portions. The staff at Limeys are all amazing. They do a great job making you feel welcome and if you go regularly you will get to know them all very well too, and they will take care of you. Plus they're good at their job. This spot gets busy during major t.v. sporting events and weekends, weekdays it's pretty chill. Also there's pool in the back. No longer smoking since Iowa passed the law banning it, but there's a nice patio area for smokers. Also, why is Limeys listed as an attraction and not a restaurant!? See more..
4.0Shotgun Bettys(8 reviews) - Feel good atmosphere Bars & Clubs From the moment you approach Shotgun Betty’s you know you’re in for a good time. Patrons can be heard singing at the top of their lungs from a block away. This is a country bar with an amazing sound system. I don’t know how it is possible for music to be bumpin but still at a volume you can talk to your companions over, but that is the case here. Perfect. The bar was packed and I was mesmerized by the upbeat, positive vibe. Everyone there seemed to be singing along, dancing or both!See more..
4.5The Back Forty(7 reviews) - The Back Forty - great grill and bar !!! Bars & Clubs
I went to the Back Forty to check out the bar...and it is impressive, their back-bar is original to the building and surely dates back to the 1940's. The mixed drink I ordered was great. The Back Forty has a business model that is focusing more on the food/restaurant demographic and it's working. The food is supposed to be locally obtained, and then all prepared on the premises. The crowd while I was having my drink was there having lunch and the food did look quite good !!! The bartender told me that they even have Prime Rib on Saturday nites (maybe even Friday nites, I don't remember for sure ??). Anyways, you will certainly do right by yourself if you stop in to have a drink or a meal...or both for that matter. Friendly folks, great service, super nice atmosphere, quality cuisine !!! Enjoy !!!See more..
4.5Underground with Century Bar(7 reviews) - Sunday Funday Bars & Clubs Just stopped for a beer and burger. We're locals and this place always has friendly people, cold beer, and a great burger!See more..
Had both a red ale and a hefeweizen, both very good. My son and I both enjoyed the food - he had a dish with duck, I had a bratwurst/kraut/bacon/cheese dish, very good except the cheese (some kind of semi-liquid cheese product), overall still really good. The service was excellent, but be advised they don't take credit; there is an ATM on site however. If you like trains, it's fun to sit by the front window and watch both the busy BNSF "Transcon" (Santa Fe) and "K-line"(BN/CB&Q)See more..
Very large with a long bar, plenty of tables inside and on the patio. The beer menu is huge, and there should be something for everyone. They even have root beer.. We ordered 2 flights with 4 in each. Brews are individually priced from $2-3 for 5 oz. Hubby likes IPA’s & red ales. He especially liked the Red Brick ale & the Breakfast Stout. I am a stout/porter fan and also enjoyed this one with its coffee flavor. I also enjoyed their nitro stout and a porter. I have recently started tastings of ciders and enjoyed their pineapple one. I enjoy the lightness, for a change of pace. It was a Friday and a small band was setting up, but we did not stay. My advice is go early and stake out a table or place at the bar. There is also a food truck out by the patio. This night happened to be tacos, but not sure if there is a rotation.See more..

But it was open when we drove past and decided to stop for dinner. They have a fun menu of American cuisine. My teenage boys loved their burgers with creamy Mac n Cheese on it. Different and fun. We sat out on the patio with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and State Park. Our server was very fun and super friendly. Note: We thought this was a brewery. Don't get misled by the name. There is one right down the street that I'm about to review too. See more..
