What an amazing experience I had with the Rusty Wallace Racing crew in Newton, Iowa at the Iowa Speedway. I have raced several times with another company and this was by far more fun! Your experience starts with a briefing and some training that is relaxed and informative. Then it is off to get on your racing gear. Once you are suited up you are ready to get in a 700 HP race car, they strap you in, roar the engine to life, and wave you off of pit road and onto the track. To add to the experience you have spotters radioing you along the way to improve your experience that includes passing! WHAT A RUSH!! This is a must have Bucket List item for you to do! Pay for the extra laps you will love it! See more..

We attended the All-Star Circuit of Champions on July 30th. It was an action packed night of racing! I’ve been to many other types of racing before but my sister-in-law said we had to go to see the sprint cars during my visit! She’s an Iowa native and her stepfather, grandfather and uncle were all driving pushtrucks. They also had newly installed LED lights on the in field poles. They put on some cool light shows but the other neat feature is the poles light up green, yellow and red corresponding with the flag color. See more..

    Hawkeye Downs Speedway image
If you grew up around here, you have to check out the wall of fame at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway. You might have heard of Darrell Dake. He was one of the names from my childhood. He was a well known dirt track racer. And my brother in law, Virgil Dietz who built the engines for two of the Speedway track champions. The Wall of Fame is full of these people who made local racing happen. It’s worth a visit just to check the wall for names you might know. See more..

  7. 5.0 Boone Speedway (1 review)
    - Dirt track racing at its best!
    Auto Racing Tracks
We came down from Minneapolis for the inaugural, two day World of Outlaws weekend. This was our first visit to this particular track. Adjacent to US 30, it is easy to locate, and parking is equally easy to find (dirt and gravel field area). It was also very easy to exit. Weekend tickets were reasonably priced ($140 for two reserved seats on the finish line two rows below the announcer's booth), and entry was quick and easy, with none of the nonsense that has taken hold of the NASCAR circuit. Viewing angles are superb-- next time out, we are going to try the catwalk overlooking turn 3; it looks like a fantastic perch. There is the usual run of racing gear on sale, and food items of the type that one normally finds at sports venues-- all reasonably priced. And lest we forget ... this is a very family oriented venue. There were a lot of children in attendance, and the very friendly staff seemed especially keen to insure that they were having a good time. Want to see some photos of the track at sunset?
