4.5Stone Cliff Winery(223 reviews) - A great little gem of a place in Dubuque. Great food and wine. Friday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
In 1996, Nan and Bob Smith, future vineyard owners, decided to return to Nan’s hometown of Dubuque, to raise their two daughters in a small town environment. They purchased the Stone Cliff Farm near Durango Iowa and planned to conventionally farm the land. However, as happens in life, one thing lead to another, and one day over a good bottle of wine, Bob and Nan Smith thought maybe they could do something different with their farm, like raise grapes and maybe eventually operate a winery to turn those grapes into wine. They immediately started going to conferences and taking classes to learn the wine industry as well as the art of making wine. With the help of family and the community, all done by hand, they planted their first 2000 vines. In 2007 the winery was relocated to the “Port of Dubuque” in the historic Star Brewery building overlooking the mighty Mississippi. Our tasting room offers not only award-winning wines, but also various draft and bottled beer selections as wellSee more..

4.5Fireside Winery(100 reviews) - Wines of Iowa Friday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
Life is Too Short -- The warmth of the fire pit and the golden hues of the setting sun in the company of good friends with a glass of wine remind us of why we began this winery. Five years ago we opened our winery doors for the first time, in large part, because of the urging of a dear family friend who had recently passed.Fireside Winery was born from a desire to embrace the "life is too short" philosophy, a long-term passion for wine, an interest in diversifying our family farm business, and a wish to pass on our farm heritage to our children. For five generations stewardship of this small corner of fertile eastern Iowa soil has rested with the Wyant family. Few places on earth possess the perfect combination of geology and climate as this land. Though corn and soybean are our primary crops, wine grapes have a long history in Iowa dating back to the 1800's. Now our Fireside family is helping to rebuild a wine grape growing legacy in our own rich soils. We chose the name Fireside Winery because we value the special times and memories created around the fire side. "Fireside Chats" made so famous by FDR were also inspirational to us because of the intimate nature of the talks and how it brought our country together. At home some of the best memories we have are of family bonfires we made with our children. Along those same lines we wanted to recreate those extraordinary feelings at Fireside Winery and to share them with you. When you visit Fireside Winery our wish is to provide you with exceptional service and delicious wines, but also to welcome you as a guest in our home. At Fireside you can relax with a glass of wine at one of our three fire pits on our lawn, cozy-up on our patio next to our fireplace, enjoy an appetizer, and listen to some of the best Midwestern live music on our outdoor stages. We hope you join us and build your own special memories at Fireside Winery with a glass of our wine while enjoying the warmth of the fire pit and scenic beauty of the ...See more..
4.5Park Farm Winery(100 reviews) - First and only 5 star review Friday: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
Took my fiance here for a lunch date. Menu is very simple. They have a pairing section where they'll pick out the wine that goes with your pizza. We got the Crush pizza. It comes with chicken, bacon, spinach, Asiago, and white sauce. DELICIOUS!! They pair it with Picket fence. It is a white wine. ( we also had a bottle of Wilson, which we got a 2nd to go) We also ordered two appetizers. A charcuterie board (the cheese spread was other worldly) and the Aligator(which happened to be a pizza! A pizza appetizer before a pizza) it is covered in shrimp, jalapeños, and BBQ sauce. Again, DELICIOUS. They make the dough fresh everyday. I'm a huge foodie both physically and figuratively and I HIGHLY recommend this place. You guys have a big Italians approval! See more..

My husband and I stopped in on a lazy afternoon to have a wine tasting. Stan was gracious and introduced us to his newest wines and ciders and some old favorites. About half way through, a bachelorette party entered the building. It was all hands on deck after that. We decided to purchase a case of wine. Joannie helped us choose our bottles and pay while Stan entertained the bachelorette party. Stan and Joannie are a great team! They always have wonderful recipes for the holidays. We will be back!See more..
This was a great Iowa Winery Experience! We were taking in all the Madison County had to offer and swung into this winery. We had such a nice experience trying their wines for a great price of $5 for tastings (we tried atleast 5!). The information that was shared in conversation was wonderful and we left with 3 bottles for home. These are not "typical" sweet Iowa wines (although they have some!)...they have some that are more traditional wines like we have had in Napa/SonomaSee more..

Beautiful country and fun evening! Had a lovely and relaxing overnight here as RV travelers with Harvest Hosts program. Ron swung by and opened just for our us. Wine tastings are always fun, but his was also informative. Marketing is unpretentious and will help with pairings. Surprised by the hilly countryside here! Easy access from hwy 35 west of town. We took the long way by accident on the way in from east end of Des Moine on the way there. What a great way to kick off our vacation!See more..

4.5Christian Herschler Winery(7 reviews) - Still a favorite! Unique wines and great people Spent < 1 hour Wineries & Vineyards
Was here a decade ago and loved the unique wines they made and the energy of the place. Always intended to come back (we live 3 hours away) but took longer than we expected. Still the same antique, historical, down to earth vibe that we fell in love with. Lucked out and had a beautiful day to sit on the grounds and enjoy some wine as well. Not your typical "manufactured" wine place for sure plus they sell their own pottery and paintings. Stocked up on wine but hopefully will make it back sooner next time. See more..
