Most children were younger, but teenagers with ants in their pants can have very fun here.     Friends got hold of a cheap ticket for 10 people for paintball and we were invited. They created a nice warzone where you have your battle. So far the good news. First thing you have to sign is a waiver, ok no problem, and they offer you insurance for 1 euro. Most likely not needed, but what the ***, only 1 euro. Next they advice you to get a safety pack for 5 euro. Safety first, so ok. Then they tell you you only have one load of bullets, that will last about 10-15 minutes. An extra load is 20 euros, however they also offer alternatives, also standard gun is small, limited reach, so you will be a sitting duck if you do not take the big gun, so we ended up with an extreme package, with unlimited bullets, something we found you really need, you run out of bullets fast. Guns are good, but other equipment old and worn out. So we ended up paying 60 euro extra per person, excluding drinks!!! This is what I call a scam! See more..

    A new experience for this camel chaser .. a camel milk dairy farm in Holland. We were there on a quiet day so did not have the complete "guided tour" but strolled the barns and a field on our own. Most camels were outside in the sun, pasturing and rolling in the dirt. We probably took hundreds of photos! The young ones played with each other. We were given bits of hay and pellets to feed the animals who responded with great affection .. gentle and obviously well-cared-for camels. Smits have 85 of them in the country's biggest camel milk production, a growing industry. These camels are not for riding, have not been trained for it. Besides giving samples of milk and selling it, the reception area has a few souvenirs including a camel milk liqueur.     Once upon a time Den Bosch boasted over four miles of defensive walls. Wind mills, cannons and sturdy towers were all part and parcel of these historic bastions. Despite the fact that most of them have disappeared, the city is still proud of its architectural and military past. One of the best spots to see and experience this rich history is the Bastionder where you can see a lovely city park with possibly the best view of Den Bosch over the Bossche Broek. The last part of the fortifications were added to the fortress (Bastion Oranje) in 1634. In the spring thousands of crocuses are in bloom, in summer you can have a picnic underneath its ancient trees and in the autumn this rustic oasis is a great place for a walk.     Made a booking for May 2021. Because of Covid we were not allowed to travel from Belgium to the Netherlands and therefore we wanted to cancel the booking. A cancellation with refund was not accepted by the owner so we agreed to postpone the booking with 1 year to June 2022. By then we had already paid the full amount. 6 months before the new booking date we had to change our plans and decided to cancel completely. Their cancellation policy clearly states that if you do this 42 days before arrival, 30% will be charged and 70% will be refunded. I understand that they need to cover admin costs (30% is actually quite a lot, but nevertheless) and rebook the accommodation. But we canceled 6 months in advance, so I would presume this would give them ample time to do this. The owner stated that the initial booking date of May 2021 should be used as a reference. How is this possible if the government does not allow you to travel? He indicated this to be logical, although their policy does not mention this kind of situation. As a 'gesture' he refunded us 40%, admitting actually that he is in the wrong. What he should have done is refund us 70%. Now he cashes twice, because he will have probably received another booking for it. In my book, that is called a scam. See more..

    Schijndel's market square was badly bombed during World War Two and for decades it remained empty until locally born architect Winy Maas came up (at the 7th attempt!) with the 'Glass Farm'. It's designed to look like a traditional Dutch farmhouse - albeit quite a large one - but look closer and you'll see it's facade is entirely made from glass. Behind the facade of the farm house are shops and restaurants and even some offices. We found we could climb to the top (4 storeys) as well as get an ice cream from a great ice cream parlour in the building. It's one of the most striking things about Schijndel, a pretty small town, so though you'll probably not be hear for very long, this is definitely worth visiting, especially if you're in to architecture.     It is hard to give a rating for this. Going through the Biesbosch, we saw a lot of competitors with more fancy boats. So you might think you can do better. But who cares? We called in the morning to get a motorboat and no problem. The boat had a decent motor and you got a friendly and clear instruction, including a map and there where trashbags and sunscreen freely available. The engine had decent power which is much appreciated since you must cross a river with rather large ships. We had fun, the dog was allowed to come along, the-rice was reasonable, and there were no issues. I couldn’t have cared less that the boat is a bit dated. There are several sunbathing areas and sandy beaches here, which makes the Galderse Meren on sunny days a popular destination for local residents to go swimming, sunbathing, diving, (wind) surfing and to go for a walk with your dog (dogs are forbidden in the high season) .
