Stopped to take a photo off the Windmill, while passing on a cycling tour. As we got closer to the mill we noticed it was a café, so stopped for a bite to eat, and a coffee. was a lovely day so sat outside at the outdoor tables. Coffee was good, and the Dutch apple cake was great. Also was lucky to get a look round inside the windmill. Staff were very friendly. There is also the chance to buy local produce in the café. 4.5Stellingmolen De Nijverheid(17 reviews) - In the mill brewery Thursday: Spent 1-2 hours Monuments & Statues
We had a special visit arranged to the Wilskracht micro brewery which is located on the ground floor of this ancient Dutch windmill. The owner Will gave us a guided tour through how beer was brewed and then we just had to sample some. I was so impressed by the beer that I purchased six large bottles of Blonde Kolonel, which is brewed with very little gas and is 6.5% by volume.I would recommend buying this beer of you visit Ravenstein.See more..
It remains difficult to understand why so many Jewish Dutch and Germans were eventually brutally murdered in camps like Sobibor. Fine people and decent citizens contributing to the prosperity and wellbeing of their nations. Helga's mother could have stayed behind in camp Vught, but chose to join her family to Sobidor. Duty? She was a medical doctor. Unaware of the nature of the Nazi death camps in Poland? Probably of mix of both... Beautiful statue of her daughter and diary keeper Helga Deen, writing to a mirror image. Modest garden next to the Tilburg synagogue on Willem II street to remember not only Helga, but all 130 Jews from Tilburg who were murdered in the Holocaust.See more..
4.5Guy Gibson Memorial(10 reviews) - Fitting Memorial to Wg Cdr Gibson and Sqn Ldr Warwick RAF Monuments & Statues
We were part of a WW2 Bomber Command tour group from the UK and this was our last stop on our tour prior to travelling home. I felt priviliged to be able to see the graves of both Wg Cdr Gibson and Sqn Ldr Warwick side by side in this graveyard. The headstones are white the high standard of military and Commonwealth War Graves, and stand out within the graveyard. Found in Holland due to the location of the aircraft crash site. Beautifully maintained and well visited by both locals, historians and British by items left on the graves. Very fitting memorial to both officers lost.See more..
4.5Vredesmonument(10 reviews) - A "OK" monument at a historically important spot Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
The monument is not a very special one. It is nice to see, but more important: it's in a spot with a very important history. It is in a spot where a group of people got killed by the germans in World War 2 In our opinion not a "must see" but if you are interested in the history (especially in WW2) it is a nice spot. The nature around here is great, one of the nicest national parks in the Netherlands. If you go here, be sure to plan some extra hours to visit national park "de Loonse en Drunense duinen", It's definitely worth a visit if you like nature!See more..

4.0Beeld Van Vincent En Theo Van Gogh(4 reviews) - Love between brothers Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
This statue from 1964 was designed by Ossip Zadkine to honor the van Gogh brothers. Theo supported his brother till the very end. They were united by heart (middle section), heads (near each other) and hands (entangled). A touching sculpture, rather similar in style to another Zadkine creation in Rotterdam named Verwoeste Stad. I remember the unveiling of the statue by then queen Juliana vividly. Last minute they built a special toilet in the nearby 'parochiehuis' now cultural center, as they realized the queen was a human being with similar needs as anyone else. By the way: she did not use it.See more..
