-Stunning and interesting

We had a few hours to kill in Eindhoven and with a train to catch we didnt want to leave the city centre. At 9am there was a lot not open yet (a Friday, a lot of stuff was opening at 10am) and saw the spires of the Cathedral when having a mint tea (with honey, try it!) so thought we would visit. This place is beautiful with beautiful paintings and stained glass. It also includes history which is really interesting. On display are excavated items with descriptions in English and Dutch, which are fascinating, especially the reconstructed child! Also old architectural drawings of the building. Worth a visit. -Grand church
Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
For me, one of Tilburg’s nicest attractions is this church of Saint Joseph. It is neo-Gothic and found in the centre of the city by the main square. The two prominent towers outside reach almost eighty-metres high and are very striking. The interior arches and colonnades are less unique but still grand all the same. See more..

-Small, Unique Cathedral with Lots of Character
Wednesday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
This small cathedral defines the skyline of Cuijk. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and survived the war mostly intact. There is a great organ (17th century) inside as well as a large and beautifully carved altar piece (19th century) by Hendrik van der Geld. The church is free to visit and the friendly volunteers inside gave us a pamphlet in English. Visitors can walk straight onto the choir/presbytery/pulpit area to view the altar up close. An attraction for all people and all ages! See more..

-Van Gogh was inspired in this town
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Located in the centre of Etten-Leur, the Van Gogh Church offers a fascinating glimpse into what is probably the least known period in Vincent van Gogh’s life, but certainly not the least important! ‘The start of a career’ This is the church where Van Gogh’s father was minister for seven years and where Van Gogh could regularly be found. Vincent van Gogh first registered as an artist in Etten in 1881. For nine months he lived and worked in the parsonage behind the Dutch Reformed Church. He also had his first drawing studio here. ‘Precious memories’ In the Van Gogh Church you can see how Vincent wrestled with drawing but became better at it through sheer hard work. How he was infatuated by his cousin Kee Vos and the drama which then unfolded. How he had arguments with his father. How he left Etten at Christmas 1881 but never forgot it. ‘Around the Van Gogh Church’ All these unusual stories are told in and around the Van Gogh Church. Nine colourful windows, multilingual information panels, showcases, animation, a film, a garden, an oversized portrait wall and audio columns take you back in time. The ‘Van Gogh in virtual reality’ is new: you will be immersed in an almost a real life encounter with Vincent van Gogh through a computer simulated environment. Van Gogh Shop The Van Gogh Shop has a large variety of souvenirs. It is also the ideal starting point for a Van Gogh walk or a cycle trip through the surrounding area. Van Gogh heritage location The Van Gogh Church and Van Gogh Shop (Markt 4) are within walking distance from the bus and railway stations. There is a multi-storey car park very close to the church. The locations are also on the Van Gogh Cycle Route that connects the five heritage locations in Brabant with each other. See more..

-Beautiful church in Waalwijk
Wednesday: 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Educational sites • Churches & Cathedrals
The church of St. John the Baptist (in Dutch: “Sint Jan de Doper”) in Waalwijk with its many copper domes and slender bell tower attracts attention from afar and defines the skyline of Waalwijk. It is the largest neo-byzantine church in the Netherlands and it has an interesting history. The interior of St. John’s, too, is impressive. When you walk into the church, you immediately notice the enormous space and the many arches. St. John’s is a beautiful church and also an official museum. The church is more than worth a visit! An audio tour is available that takes you to all the highlights of the church. The entrance to the church is free of charge; the audio tour is € 3 per person. You are welcome every Wednesday to Sunday afternoon from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm to discover the beauty of St John’s! See more..

-Place of commemoration
Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues • Churches & Cathedrals
It remains difficult to understand why so many Jewish Dutch and Germans were eventually brutally murdered in camps like Sobibor. Fine people and decent citizens contributing to the prosperity and wellbeing of their nations. Helga's mother could have stayed behind in camp Vught, but chose to join her family to Sobidor. Duty? She was a medical doctor. Unaware of the nature of the Nazi death camps in Poland? Probably of mix of both... Beautiful statue of her daughter and diary keeper Helga Deen, writing to a mirror image. Modest garden next to the Tilburg synagogue on Willem II street to remember not only Helga, but all 130 Jews from Tilburg who were murdered in the Holocaust. See more..

See more..

-19th century Roman Catholic Goirkese Kerk dating from 1839 by architect H.Essens
Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
The imposing 19th century Roman Catholic Goirkese Kerk dating from 1839 is situated next to museum "De Pont" and "Textiel Museum" in the northern end of the city of Tilburg near the green and historic Wilhelminapark. These early 19th century churches are sometimes called "Waterstaatskerken"due to the influence of the Dutch"ministerie van Waterstaat "who controlled the designs by the various architects between 1824-1875 . King Willem II of the Netherlands financed the building in early 19th century Neo-Gothic Style sometimes called after him"Willem II Gothic Style". I visited this church on a bike ride between Tilburg and the medieval castle and church of Loon op zand in the natural area"Loonse en Drunense Duinen"north of Tilburg. See more..

-Kerk en toren mooi geheel
Churches & Cathedrals
Herodes was gevangen genomen. Het interieur bevat o.a. 15e eeuwse heiligenbeelden. See more..

-Statige Waterstaatskerk
Churches & Cathedrals
See more..

-Mooie 14e/15e eeuwse kerk
Churches & Cathedrals
In 1680 herstelde men het gebouw. See more..

-Today 1-11-2021 is All Saints' Day✝, pray to St. Anne in this chapel if you are looking for a partner
Churches & Cathedrals
The St. Anne's Chapel at the town of Molenschot originally dates from the 16th century and was restored in 1996. The chapel is dedicated to Saint Anne, mother of Mary. Saint Anne is worshipped as patroness of the family by men and women with a desire to have a child or partner. Molenschot has therefore grown into a place of pilgrimage. An old saying that is connected to this chapel is therefore: 'At Molenschot every Anneke is searching a Manneke and every Manneke is searching an Anneke ( Which means something like: every woman is searching for a man and every man is searching for a woman"). To light a candle in the Anna Chapel, you can visit daily from 10:00 to 18:00 in the summer. In winter this is possible from 10:00 to 17:00. See more..

Surprisingly enough this church is not even 100 years old. It was built in the past century, in 1933. This church belongs to Traditionalist architecture, the movement, established in the beginning of the 20th century in The Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia. -Koket zaalkerkje
Churches & Cathedrals
See more..
