- 4.5 St. Catharinakerk (471 reviews)
-Stunning and interesting
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
We had a few hours to kill in Eindhoven and with a train to catch we didnt want to leave the city centre. At 9am there was a lot not open yet (a Friday, a lot of stuff was opening at 10am) and saw the spires of the Cathedral when having a mint tea (with honey, try it!) so thought we would visit. This place is beautiful with beautiful paintings and stained glass. It also includes history which is really interesting. On display are excavated items with descriptions in English and Dutch, which are fascinating, especially the reconstructed child! Also old architectural drawings of the building. Worth a visit. - 4.0 De Bossche Markt (204 reviews)
-Market square
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Flea & Street Markets
We were able to see the central ‘s-Hertogenbosch square on both days when the market was present and when it wasn’t. When the stalls are out and the fresh foods are on display, it makes for a lovely picture. It appears to get quite busy and is popular with both locals and tourists. It spills out right the way over the square and up to the town hall. Definitely worth a visit. See more..

The Evoluon consists of three parts: the iconic Dome where you can find the RetroFuture exhibition, the conference center and Brasserie Next. - 4.0 Eindhoven (92 reviews)
-A super city
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Eindhoven is a reasonably large and vibrant municipality found towards the south of The Netherlands. During our visit, we explored many streets filled with bars, restaurants, retail stores and tourist attractions. There’s a real buzz to the city – The Netherlands’ fifth-largest – and the bustle makes for a good atmosphere wherever you go. Home of Philips technology, there are groovy areas to the city including near to Catharinaplein where a long street, Stratumseind, filled with bars can be found. Makes for a good night out! - 4.0 Kasteel Van Breda (72 reviews)
-Stunning military grounds and castle
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
The Castle of Breda (Kasteel van Breda) is a stunning landmark, just north of Breda cosy city center. The castle used to be the grounds owned by the founders of Breda and of the Dutch Royal Family. Nowadays the castle is used as a university complex for the Dutch Department of Defence, to educate and train their officers. The attraction can only be accessed with a guided tour from the VVV tourist office (located at the Grote Markt) for a small fee. Nevertheless, visiting the complex is impressive. The castle consists of several buildings. The castle is located in the center of the gounds and was rebuilt in the 1700's. The walls and defence works of the castle date back from the middle ages and underneath these complexes undergound tunnels run under the city (only a few are accesible). Finally, the Spanjaarsgat offers a great view in on Breda's harbour and is one of the few remaining acient defence works Breda has to offer. If you are visiting Breda, don't miss this attraction! - 3.5 Bastionder (33 reviews)
-On the old town walls
Wednesday: Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Military Bases & Facilities
Once upon a time Den Bosch boasted over four miles of defensive walls. Wind mills, cannons and sturdy towers were all part and parcel of these historic bastions. Despite the fact that most of them have disappeared, the city is still proud of its architectural and military past. One of the best spots to see and experience this rich history is the Bastionder where you can see a lovely city park with possibly the best view of Den Bosch over the Bossche Broek. The last part of the fortifications were added to the fortress (Bastion Oranje) in 1634. In the spring thousands of crocuses are in bloom, in summer you can have a picnic underneath its ancient trees and in the autumn this rustic oasis is a great place for a walk. The underground information centre offers visitors information about the military history of the city across the centuries. See more..

As we got closer to the mill we noticed it was a café, so stopped for a bite to eat, and a coffee. was a lovely day so sat outside at the outdoor tables. Coffee was good, and the Dutch apple cake was great. Also was lucky to get a look round inside the windmill. Staff were very friendly. There is also the chance to buy local produce in the café. - 4.5 Den Bosch (28 reviews)
-Hugely impressive city
Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this delightful, traditionally Dutch city. Not necessary a household name you’d reel off when listing places in The Netherlands, ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) is full of enchanting side passages, terrific bars and restaurants, tourist attractions and is of course home to the Bossche bol, a chocolate-coated eclair delicacy. We began our tour here at Den Bosch train station, a modern transport hub – not quite on the same level as Arnhem, mind! – and took us past the canals, to Vught Concentration Camp, up Den Bosch’s church spire for sprawling views and all over the rest of the town square. This was a truly great set of three nights, which is more than enough to take it all in (with day trips to Nijmegen, Oss etc.) See more..

- 4.0 Emmamolen (26 reviews)
-Just how dutch...
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Educational sites
What could be more Dutch than a working (flour) mill where you can enjoy bread made from grain produced in the mill? The Emmamolen (Emma Mill) in Nieuwkuijk is arguably the friendliest and prettiest windmill in the Netherlands. You can buy organic flour and baking products in its own shop while the flour is transformed into delicious bread products in the bakery – where you can also take part in workshops. The Emmamolen also has a function room and an attractive terrace. When the weather is hot the mill attracts many cyclists, walkers, motorbike and Solex bike riders. See more..

- 4.0 Van Gogh Kerk (19 reviews)
-Van Gogh was inspired in this town
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Located in the centre of Etten-Leur, the Van Gogh Church offers a fascinating glimpse into what is probably the least known period in Vincent van Gogh’s life, but certainly not the least important! ‘The start of a career’ This is the church where Van Gogh’s father was minister for seven years and where Van Gogh could regularly be found. Vincent van Gogh first registered as an artist in Etten in 1881. For nine months he lived and worked in the parsonage behind the Dutch Reformed Church. He also had his first drawing studio here. ‘Precious memories’ In the Van Gogh Church you can see how Vincent wrestled with drawing but became better at it through sheer hard work. How he was infatuated by his cousin Kee Vos and the drama which then unfolded. How he had arguments with his father. How he left Etten at Christmas 1881 but never forgot it. ‘Around the Van Gogh Church’ All these unusual stories are told in and around the Van Gogh Church. Nine colourful windows, multilingual information panels, showcases, animation, a film, a garden, an oversized portrait wall and audio columns take you back in time. The ‘Van Gogh in virtual reality’ is new: you will be immersed in an almost a real life encounter with Vincent van Gogh through a computer simulated environment. Van Gogh Shop The Van Gogh Shop has a large variety of souvenirs. It is also the ideal starting point for a Van Gogh walk or a cycle trip through the surrounding area. Van Gogh heritage location The Van Gogh Church and Van Gogh Shop (Markt 4) are within walking distance from the bus and railway stations. There is a multi-storey car park very close to the church. The locations are also on the Van Gogh Cycle Route that connects the five heritage locations in Brabant with each other. See more..
- 4.5 VALKENSWAARD WAR CEMETERY (19 reviews)
-A dignified resting place.
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
Another superbly maintained war graves site that tells the bloody cost of one of the most famous military operations of WW2. Many of those who rest here lost their lives in the initial actions of 17th November as XXX Corps began its breakout from Neerpelt, destination Arnhem. For some, the first bridge was a bridge too far. RIP and thank you to those who perform the important work of maintaining this important cemetery. See more..
- 4.5 Visit Wieke (19 reviews)
-First visit at visit Wieke
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
The central location is the authentic windmill that has been designated as a national monument. This beautiful object has many sights and offers a glimpse into the past. Because the mill is still fully operational, this has a special effect on the guests. We therefore mainly organize arrangements in which the mill is central and where our guests can also enjoy our hospitality. Food and drinks obviously fit perfectly here. The packages embrace at the core a tour of the mill, information about the mill, come into contact with products from the mill and a suitable food and drink formula with high-quality local products. The mill is a multifunctional complex and Visit Wieke has many possibilities ... think of eg: • Eat and drink in the broadest sense of the word • Special wedding location and weddings • Opportunity for parties and parties • Take care of condolences • Organize small-scale events See more..

- 4.0 Piusplein (16 reviews)
-Central square in Tilburg
Spent More than 3 hours Neighborhoods • Points of Interest & Landmarks
During our visit, there appeared to be a lot of activity on the main square on Tilburg. Many restaurants had extended their seating areas and live music is something offered too. It’s just around the corner from a shopping complex with the likes of Decathalon, casual wear stores and food markets. It seems to be a hub for a lot of people and is definitely used as a meeting place. See more..
- 4.0 Moeierboom (15 reviews)
-If this tree could talk!
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Locals call this lime tree 'The Moeierboom' for ages. People say it could be planted in the Golden Age. It is a beautiful poetic landmark in our often transformed village centre. Fun facts: Vincent van Gogh drew this tree (for real!) during his younger years living in Etten-Leur. And did you know there is a very tasteful sweet liqueur named after this tree? It's is locally sold under the name 'Moeierboomke'. If this tree ever dies, we villagers will drink our sorrow away with it. See more..

If you want to have a wonderful experience in the woods of Bergen op Zoom, you have to visit Fortress De Roovere at the Ligneweg. Without paying you can walk to this most amazing bridge and climb the viewtower where you can see the surroundings. There is a small cafetaria, called “de Schaft”, run by two nice ladies. - 4.5 Vredesmonument (10 reviews)
-A "OK" monument at a historically important spot
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
The monument is not a very special one. It is nice to see, but more important: it's in a spot with a very important history. It is in a spot where a group of people got killed by the germans in World War 2 In our opinion not a "must see" but if you are interested in the history (especially in WW2) it is a nice spot. The nature around here is great, one of the nicest national parks in the Netherlands. If you go here, be sure to plan some extra hours to visit national park "de Loonse en Drunense duinen", It's definitely worth a visit if you like nature! See more..

- 2.5 Vorstengraf (6 reviews)
-Het zou zo mooi kunnen zijn
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
De grootste grafheuvel van Nederland; liefst 53 meter doorsnee en metershoog, gebouwd van heideplaggen. Hier lag een belangrijk man begraven.
See more..

- 4.0 Markt Roosendaal (5 reviews)
-Old city center of Roosendaal
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
The center of Roosendaal was significantly extended southward with new shopping malls. The older section just called 'markt' with the city hall and St. Janskerk has more character. The old municipal building dates from the 16th century, though got most of its present shape around 1750. It is a charming building and along with the church dominates the square. Unlike town squares in nearby cities of Breda and Bergen op Zoom there are not many historic houses rounding the market. Most structures are 19th and 20th century. Many have terraces in front of them. In summer the market feels better than during the colder seasons. See more..
- 4.0 Volkerak Locks (4 reviews)
-Linking Rotterdam and Antwerp with Germany
Points of Interest & Landmarks
These four locks, since 1967 the biggest in Europe, are crucial for boat transport between Rotterdam and Antwerp by the Scheldt-Rhine canal enabling access to the German hinterland. The locks are located between Volkerak and Hollands diep, the estuary of the Rhine and Meuse rivers. Sea-going ships can reach the North Sea through the Hollands diep at the northern side of the locks. Motorized traffic and cyclists can use a road crossing the locks. The situation for cyclists and pedestrians is a bit precarious as there are no separate lanes and trucks and cars pass by at considerable speed. You are also pretty much exposed to the wind. Considerable waiting time (minimum 20 minutes, but often more) when the locks are open. There is no shelter. Best views are from the observation tower at the east side of the locks near Willemstad. See more..
- 4.0 Beeld Van Vincent En Theo Van Gogh (4 reviews)
-Love between brothers
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
This statue from 1964 was designed by Ossip Zadkine to honor the van Gogh brothers. Theo supported his brother till the very end. They were united by heart (middle section), heads (near each other) and hands (entangled). A touching sculpture, rather similar in style to another Zadkine creation in Rotterdam named Verwoeste Stad. I remember the unveiling of the statue by then queen Juliana vividly. Last minute they built a special toilet in the nearby 'parochiehuis' now cultural center, as they realized the queen was a human being with similar needs as anyone else. By the way: she did not use it. See more..

The Citadel is a pentagonal entrenchment with bastions, constructed in 1637 in the northern corner of 's-Hertogenbosch. The walls built around the redoubt towered some 38 feet above the water surrounding the Citadel. The entrenchment served not only to defend the city, but also to control the city itself, which after the famous siege of 1629 to a considerable extent had remained pro-Spanish. See more..
