  1. 4.5 St. John's Cathedral (1.441 reviews)
    - See the angel on the cellphone on the square side

    St. John's Cathedral image
A treasure inside and out. Too much to take in. If you are very interested there are guides sometimes (not sure how this works, just saw them). The stained windows, the architecture, peace inside and just the general feel make this a must see to me, Don't miss the climb if you can get tickets in summer (hugely popular). The organ is often missed by tourist, just look and absorb. There are little (and big) treasures around every corner, take your time. Remember to respect the various services, this is a working church. See more..

nice church to see from the outside but also from the inside; friendly reception by volunteers AND a nice tower to climb, 183 steps to the top, but it's worth that exercise. See more..
  4. 4.5 Hasselt Chapel (31 reviews)
    - Charming Chapel
Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
    Hasselt Chapel image
The modest 16th century chapel was restored in 1972, and was a place of pilgrimage since the 19th century. Nowadays it is still a place of worship and the people maintaining it keep the place immaculate and in very good shape with fresh flowers in front of the madonna with child and lots of activities like concerts and the weekly 'rozenhoedje' on Mondays. It is a small and cozy place with in addition to the niche with madonna, sixty chairs and a small organ. Interesting to visit if you want to find out about Roman Catholic tradition and culture that still constitutes the core of the value system in Brabant. Note the relics near the madonna (legs, knees, hearts etc.) and the plaques with words of thanks to the holy mother on the wall left next to the entrance: "thank you for having opened my eyes." 5. 4.5 Sint Martinuskerk (22 reviews)
    - Small, Unique Cathedral with Lots of Character
Wednesday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    Sint Martinuskerk image
This small cathedral defines the skyline of Cuijk. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and survived the war mostly intact. There is a great organ (17th century) inside as well as a large and beautifully carved altar piece (19th century) by Hendrik van der Geld. The church is free to visit and the friendly volunteers inside gave us a pamphlet in English. Visitors can walk straight onto the choir/presbytery/pulpit area to view the altar up close. An attraction for all people and all ages! See more..
  6. 4.0 Sint Jan de Doper (18 reviews)
    - Beautiful church in Waalwijk
Wednesday: 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Educational sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    Sint Jan de Doper image
The church of St. John the Baptist (in Dutch: “Sint Jan de Doper”) in Waalwijk with its many copper domes and slender bell tower attracts attention from afar and defines the skyline of Waalwijk. It is the largest neo-byzantine church in the Netherlands and it has an interesting history. The interior of St. John’s, too, is impressive. When you walk into the church, you immediately notice the enormous space and the many arches. St. John’s is a beautiful church and also an official museum. The church is more than worth a visit! An audio tour is available that takes you to all the highlights of the church. The entrance to the church is free of charge; the audio tour is € 3 per person. You are welcome every Wednesday to Sunday afternoon from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm to discover the beauty of St John’s! See more..

See more..

    Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk image
The church dates from 1874, though the first monks already settled there ten years earlier. The former paterstuin (monks' garden) at the rear of the church annex convent is now a public park. It is bordered by Molenbeek and railroad. Very nice and quiet place. In 2003 the last monks (paters) of redemption left the convent. See more..

Stilte en rust omgeven deze abdij. In de winkel kun je abdij bier en lectuur kopen. De abdij en brouwerij zijn NIET te bezoeken maar de rust die deze plek uitstraalt is weldadig.

The chapel can be visited daily. Every year the chapel attracts around 20,000 visitors, it is a real meeting place for people. A field chapel with a quiet miracle in the open landscape. Silence comes and goes from the region, but also nationally and internationally. The chapel is located on various walking and cycling routes. See more..
  16. 4.0 Protestantse Gemeente Hooge Zwaluwe (1 review)
    - Originally sponsored by the Orange family
    Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
In order to spread their faith Protestants sponsored by Frederik Hendrik of Orange built this church in the Roman Catholic south of what is now the Netherlands in 1641. Architect Jacob van Campen also designed palaces for the Orange family in Amsterdam (Dam) and The Hague (Huis ten Bosch). The church was restored in 1859 en in 1910 after a fire left only the walls standing. During WOII again the church was severely damaged and restored again in 1951 and 1986. Worth while a visit. - Impressive Domed Church with Double Tower Front
Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    Sint-brigidakerk image
This Roman Catholic Church was built between 1889 and 1891 to a design by architect Carl Weber. From outside you only see one colour church building with double tower. When you enter the church, it looks a little bit dark but you will notice that there is something special with the wall. The interior of the church is made of different colored brick. It's extraordinary beauty. Our first visit was in March before the pandemic and the second one was in October on the way home from Luxemburg. Only the small chapel was open. It's recommended when you're in the neighbourhood See more..
