VALKENSWAARD WAR CEMETERY, North Brabant Province, The Netherlands

4.5 (19 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #4 in Valkenswaard Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries

A dignified resting place.

Another superbly maintained war graves site that tells the bloody cost of one of the most famous military operations of WW2. Many of those who rest here lost their lives in the initial actions of 17th November as XXX Corps began its breakout from Neerpelt, destination Arnhem. For some, the first bridge was a bridge too far. RIP and thank you to those who perform the important work of maintaining this important cemetery.

    Cemetary with a story
Well, every war cemetary has it's story, but this ons is located on the location where the English of 30 Corps ran into heavy enemy resistance at the start of the first day of Market Garden in 1944.
