A building built in the early 1900's today home to several museums - pity like every museum its closed on Monday's ... so I couldn't visit the museums, maybe next time when I'm in Iasi. The building is majestic - form the outside you can see a lot architectural features, statues, decorations on the façade. When you are in Iasi , a definite must see, even if only from the outside but it is worth it.See more..

4.5Humor Monastery(213 reviews) - More compact than other painted monasteries Thursday: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM Religious Sites
This monastery is a little more remote than some other monasteries but is only a 4km drive north of Gura Humorului. There is free parking in the square and it is only a short walk from here. The site is more compact than some others and very well tended. Our personal view is that the paintings were not quite as refined as some other monasteries but nevertheless, it is worth visiting and most of the paintings remain in very good condition.See more..
We accidentally got in the queue of the people waiting to worship in the Monastirea, while we thought we were simply waiting to get inside. This turned out to be a good accident on our part. We ended up in a trail of stations, where the attendees were worshiping in different locations, crossing themselves, going to the floor, kissing icon, writing prayers for the priests to read. With all respect and reverence it was extremely interesting. We felt we had an inside view. See more..
4.0Cetatea de Scaun a Sucevei(201 reviews) - Place where history still alive Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Castles
Suceava Fortress is a great place. If you will come here you need to find the time and visit this location. If you like some adventure you can turn right from the road and walk through the park, high up to the hill where Fortress is located. Honestly, we were a little lost but Romanian people are so kind and they helped us to find the right way. Near Fortress we found the ethnical museum, the Bucovina Village. It looks like Pirogovo Village near Kyiv, but I liked it too. It was interesting to know how peoples lived here in old times.See more..
4.5Putna Monastery(131 reviews) - Beautifully preserved landmark of Romanian Christianity Thursday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
Must see for Romanian orthodox pilgrims and for lovers of art & history. The interior of the main church and the architecture are very beautiful. The inside paintings of the church were restored in the 2000s. Free entrance to the church, but no pictures / videos are allowed inside (only outside for a few of 10 RON). Museum available for visit against a fee. A nice shop outside the entrance with souvenirs, religious books and the like, cash only. Fair road to it, but pay attention to the other monastery located only a few km down the road, not to mix the locations by the GPS. Several accommodation and eating places nearby. No street sellers, at least at the moment of our visit (5-6 PM on 01.01).See more..
For those who are Orthodox believers this is one of the holiest of places in Romania. A big cathedral as the center piece - home of the relics of the Saint Parascheva - in Oct every year is a pilgrimage with 10th of thousands of people flocking to this place. The main church is impressive - however in the summer when I was there it was very crowded - so I did not entered ... queuing up in times of Covid for 15-20 min it is not for me. The smaller church - the old St. George church - it is also very interesting but it was closed. Otherwise also the museum in the location could be interesting - but at the end of the day large groups were flocking there ... so I skipped that 1 also. Interesting, impressive to a certain degree , still not the perfect experience.See more..

This was the only place I could find a post card and a magnet in the entire city as well (in the bookstore). If you need anything, this is the place to go.See more..
4.5Dragomirna Monastery(101 reviews) - Monastery and old art museum Religious Sites
The Dragomirna Monastery's history started back in 1602 AD when the small church was built and dedicated to St. Enoch, Elijah and John the Teologue. The monastery built during the first three decades of the 17th century, between 1843 -1846 was a general reconstruction. The total height up to the Cross is 42 m. “It is tall and narrow like a fine casket with holy relics; an architectural jewel with around the ancient woods of Bucovina,” wrote great Romanian historian Nicolae Iorga.See more..

4.5Centrul Istoric Iași(97 reviews) - Meet the City of -Iasi ! Spent More than 3 hours Neighborhoods
Iaşi has stood for centuries as the most important political, economic, social and cultural centre in North-Eastern Romania. Stylish, cosy and richly rewarding, Iaşi is brimming with history and art. The impressive number of interacting scientific and cultural institutions explain why Iaşi is considered to be “the cultural capital of Romania”. Iaşi is not a city, but rather a state of mind. It’s alive, and it’s not about the buildings, though they amaze every day, it’s not about the university, which is the oldest in the country, it’s not about the parks wich are natural monuments of beauty, it’s about the people who never get tired of being alive.See more..

4.0Cacica Salt Mine(53 reviews) - Interesting experience in an active salt mine Historic Sites
As it is the only active salt mine, it's interesting to see everything and go down all those stairs (~200). No guide, but it's interesting because they have a ballroom inside the mine, a football zone, a little church and a little lake where they used to float to show their intentions to get married. I don't regret going. You can also buy salt from the mine and experience the smell in which the mine workers live in everyday.See more..

4.5Saint Nicholas Church(51 reviews) - From the heritage of king Stephen the Great. Architectural Buildings • Churches & Cathedrals
Near the Dosoftei house and the Palace of culture in Iasi you shall find this small but very interesting church. Built during the reign of Kind Stephen the Great in the period of 1491-1492 - it was refurbished through the ages - even on the interior the Romanian royal family was added on the walls. Entrance is free of charge - but it is not open around the clock, so try to be there at reasonable hours - after 9:0 a.m. and before 6 p.m. for instance. The frescoes inside are interesting but are covered in a layer of candle smoke - and like in the majority of orthodox churches in Romania there is a dim light so you need to really focus to see the items inside. Overall very interesting - if you are in the area definitely worth taking a look.See more..

There is also a water source with very good water.See more..

4.0Saint George’s Church(37 reviews) - A five hundred-year-old church well maintained Churches & Cathedrals
The church was destroyed during the time Stephen the Great was reigning over. Another church was built over its ruins. Its devastation, occurring in the year 1513, caused its abandoning until the 17th century. It had been restored between 1898 and 1901, and had the honour of being painted by K. Jobst. Between 1990 and 2001 it was restored once again. The archaeological researches developed there revealed the tomb of Evdokia of Kiev, the first wife of Stephen the Great.See more..
This is a beautiful modern building. A real architectural gem & completely different from the other buildings in the area. The interior is light and airy with a beautiful alter and distinctive stations of the cross. I would recommend a visit.See more..
The museum has exhibits like: - Clothing; - Tools; - Houses / Architecture; - Furniture, etc. All representing the way of thinking and the cultural spirit of traditional Bucovinean folk. It is an inspiring experience because you see the creativiti with which ancestors built all their tools and houses from simple materials, mainy wood. The complexity and specialization of the tools grew with time and some of the exibits are pretty complex (eg. img. 7). The belief / spiritual traditions of the Bucovinean Folk are also present in the museum. There is an entire room designed to show the New Year's "ritual" and many more smaller traditions like the burning of the plow head to banish any bad spirits and preventing them to enter the soil and ruin the crops. There are many more things ti see in the museum an I personally recommend taking a guide so you can have a better understanding of the exhibits and their meaning.See more..

4.5Manastirea Șinca Veche(33 reviews) - Ancient place with lot of positive energy Points of Interest & Landmarks
I red about this place among other strange places in Romania and decided to see it. Today it happened. The cave is carved into the hill and has two chambers with drawings on walls. You can feel the energy when entering the cave. And, by the way, it is free entrance, between 9 and 20 in summer and 9 to 18 from october! So you can go inside and pray or sit outside on a bench and meditate. Nearby is a spring with cristal clear water which will ease your thirst! I spent over 2 hours there. It was amazing. I plan to go again tomorrow, on my way to Bucharest! For all of you who want to sit quietly in a holly place and think about what should we do with our life, I say go to Cave in Sinca Veche!See more..
4.5Arbore Monastery(33 reviews) - Do not miss this UNESCO World Heritage Monastery Religious Sites
The painted churches of Bucovina are world-famous. Each one has its charm, but Arbore is special because the XVI Century painter who did the interior of the church had just come back from a trip to Florence. Thus, whereas all seven other Bucovina UNESCO World Heritage churches are painted very much in the Greek-Romanian Orthodox idiom, the paintings in Arbore are strongly influenced by the Florentine Renaissance. The syncretic style is carried with aplomb and mastery, and I feel that it speaks more forcefully to those whose visual education was preponderantly in the Western, rather than Eastern Christian idiom. Arbore monastery is slightly off the beaten track (by the standards of Bucovina), and is quieter than Voronet, for instance. But it's definitely worth the detour.See more..
4.5Casa Dosoftei(33 reviews) - Gorgeous little house Architectural Buildings • History Museums
This place is located in front of the Palace and Mall, plus St Nicholas church near it. I guess due to the traffic nearby, the house is now suffering (as being several hundreds of years old) thus being under renovation at this moment in time. However you can still admire the outside structure and pictures depicting the house some 100 years ago. Well maintained area with wide roads and lots of traffic though.See more..
4.5Varatec Monastery(29 reviews) - Beautiful and peaceful Religious Sites
So many flowers and beautiful houses inside the Monastery. The museum has old items handcrafted by the nuns. Don't stay too much outside, many beggars. But really go and see the placeSee more..
Apparently, the Cucuteni people were geometry fanatics. They loved to paint triangles, circles, squares and other geometrical figures. They also seemed to be obsessed about female torsos. All the female statues displayed in the museum are very curvy, with small head and no arms. As far as I understood, the only artifacts left behind by Cucuteni civilization are the ceramic pots and statues exposed in this museum. The exhibition really worth visiting if you're around. If no one tells you how old the exhibits are, you might believe it's a modern art gallery.See more..
4.5Sturdza Palace(28 reviews) - Lovely but aging Thursday: Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is a fairy tale location. I wish I could have spent more time inside, but it was growing late in the evening when we arrived. The exterior is a dream, the interior is in need of some repair. Still charming, nevertheless. There were a number of bride and groom couples all taking pictures on the grounds. That was a little distracting, but I completely understand the appeal of the location. See more..
Built in 1832 the palace today is the city hall of Iasi and it is not open for visitor - like in Vienna or Budapest or any other major city in the world outside of Romania - like everywhere in RO... for the time being I don't know any city hall that you can visit ... except if you have a friend who has a friend who knows somebody ... The building served as a private residence for decades - a home to culture , where G. Enescu was playing and M. Eminescu was presenting his new poems. So when you are walking in the area, you can stop for a few pics in front of this beautiful building.See more..
