Catedrala Mitropolitană „Sfânta Cuvioasă Parascheva”, Northeast Romania, Romania

Interesting but very crowded

For those who are Orthodox believers this is one of the holiest of places in Romania. A big cathedral as the center piece - home of the relics of the Saint Parascheva - in Oct every year is a pilgrimage with 10th of thousands of people flocking to this place. The main church is impressive - however in the summer when I was there it was very crowded - so I did not entered ... queuing up in times of Covid for 15-20 min it is not for me. The smaller church - the old St. George church - it is also very interesting but it was closed. Otherwise also the museum in the location could be interesting - but at the end of the day large groups were flocking there ... so I skipped that 1 also. Interesting, impressive to a certain degree , still not the perfect experience.

    An awesome church!
If you are in Iasi and want to experience an Orthodox Christian liturgy, go to the Metropolitan Cathedral on Sunday morning (9-12 or so). The choir is divine and the service wonderful.

    Very interesting!
Very large , maybe the largest Cathedral in Romania is one of the main attractions in Iasi. The Cathedral is hosting the relic of Saint Paraschieva , very famous in ortodoxe Church.
