The monument is very beautiful. My father, Col(r.) Aurel Tutuianu had an important contribution to the renovation of of this wonderful place , together with the mayor of Targu Ocna town in 1974. In attachement you will find an touching appreciation letter from the General-maior (retired) Emil-Anton A. Popescu, former participant to the WW I battles on these places. The letter was sent after the General's participation to the opening ceremony after the monument renovation in 1972-1974.See more..

Following the glorious battles waged by the Botosani regiments during the First World War, it was necessary to build a monument commemorating their bravery and sacrifice. The call to the public to raise funds for this monument urged the Botoşans not to forget the sacrifices of their parents, brothers and friends on the battlefield or in hospitals, some buried with care, others with only a handful of rush throwing . The work was done by the sculptor Horia Miclescu, originally from Botoşani, and was unveiled in the summer of 1929. Major Grigore Ignat was captured by the enemy bullets of the central forces in August 1917, together with the regiments he had under his control , in the battle of Razor. The four shields attached to the corners of the socket represent the four historical provinces that joined with Romania after the First World War: Transylvania, Bucovina, Bessarabia and Banat. There are two important symbols on this statue on the base of the statuary group: the seashell - also present on the coat of arms of Botosani County, and the head of Moldavian coat of arms.See more..
