Interesting experience in an active salt mine
As it is the only active salt mine, it's interesting to see everything and go down all those stairs (~200). No guide, but it's interesting because they have a ballroom inside the mine, a football zone, a little church and a little lake where they used to float to show their intentions to get married. I don't regret going. You can also buy salt from the mine and experience the smell in which the mine workers live in everyday.

So so
Sunny side: Plenty of space to walk through Several places to read about the history of this place or about the salt mining, however mostly in Romanian (with few in English, Polish or German) Free parking outside Dark side: No elevators, just 280+ stairs to the lowest level (so no way for people in wheelchairs to visit) No activities / food, drinks, souvenirs to buy inside / organized tours. Dirty / smelly restrooms Cash only for the entry fee No reservations (I called multiple times in the morning before the visit to check if it’s open, no answer) Outside there are a coffee machine and a few street sellers with souvenirs. Just across the street, there is a nice (Catholic ?) church, with a statue for John Paul II. A spa using salt water is nearby. It’s a pity, considering the lag to the other salt mines I’ve visited in Romania. I’d say the local management is to blame, but, since it’s owned by a state-owned monopoly, things are not always black or white. We spent one hour inside. Not sure if we would return.
