Bogdana Monastery, Northeast Romania, Romania
4.5 (23 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Suceava County Religious Sites
Reborn in 2020, it is worth visiting!
This church is the oldest still standing religious building in Moldavia (year 1360). In 2020 this monastery has undergone significant restoration works which revealed one of the oldest church paintings. This is definitively a must see for anyone visiting the Moldavian churches. It will be reopened to the public by end 2020.

Built by the first Moldavian king.
Built by the founder of Moldavia - Bogdan I the monastery bearing his name "Bogdana" is definitely one of the hidden gems of Bucovina. Not that very well known - not usually on the tourists list - hence the small parking lot nearby where its no issue to find a spot to park your car -free of charge. Interesting for those into history and architecture - it is also the resting place of the Musatin line of kings (Bogdan I and his descendants were know as the house of Musat). Very interesting indeed - beautiful decoration inside - the outside walls are simple limestone white but the interior frescoes are beautiful. When you are in the area of Radauti - include it on your list of places to visit. Pity you have no guide on the premises and nobody to ask for info on spot - hence no perfect score.

Peace and quiet
A very beautiful place. You can pray, meditate or just to relax visiting this Monastery. There are two monasteries, one is very old, and the other one is newier than the first. Both are very beautiful and amaizing
