  27. 5.0 Ceahlau Massif (1 review)
    - One of the most beautiful mountains in Romania
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
The Ceahlău Massif is one of the most beautiful mountains in Romania. You would find it a very good hiking destination as there are marked trails built for hikers and tourists. You can easily find accommodation in Durau resort (which is literally on the massif itself, at 800 m altitude) or, besides other places, there is Dochia Chalet near Toaca Peak, at 1750 m altitude, the best choice if you want to get often, in a short time, to the peaks of the mountain (my stay at this chalet was a very convenient one). There are several peaks that you can climb during your stay on this mountain and the most interesting of them, in my opinion, are Toaca Peak and Ocolasul Mare Peak. They are also the highest peaks of The Ceahlau Massif. Toaca Peak is really worth climbing, even if it is not that easy to do. While being on the top of this peak, you get one of the most beautiful views; I found it amazing. See more..

Spent More than 3 hours Religious Sites
    Malinesti Monastery image
You will definitely find a piece of heaven at the Malinesti Monastery situated in beautiful Moldova, in Vaslui County, Garceni village. As soon as you step into the yard of the monastery, you will feel the touch of God surrounding you in every sound of the silence and in every color of the flowers in the beautiful garden of the church. The beautifully painted church, besides being a work of art in itself, it is also the home of a Miracle Maker Icon, of the Virgin Mary. It is said that the icon remained untouched by a devastating fire that burnt the old church down in the 18th century. The church was re-build in 1826, and it is currently a monument pertaining to the Romanian National Heritage. The monks have divine terraces full of geraniums and a masterly kept garden. At the first sight, you will think that there are more monks taking care of the monastery, but there are only 7 of them. Malinesti Monastery the perfect place to sooth your soul and to re-charge your batteries, especially if you have the chance to meet and to talk to Father Filip (the abbot of the monastery) and to Father Daniel. They are the embodiment of wisdom. God bless this beautiful place and all the people taking care of it! See more..

Mihai Eminescu himself worked here for a short period as an employee of the Tribunal as a copist, between October 1864 and March 1865. The house is bought on 5 December 1842 by the hatman Anastasie Başotă for the sum of 40,000 lei. In 1850, the prince Grigore Ghica, visiting the Botosani, and seeing that there is a lack of a house for the administrative institutions and other authorities in this town, buys the house with the sum of 2,000 yellow and gives it to Botosani. In October 1864, when Mihai Eminescu became a copist in court, several buildings of the city of Botosani were located in this building: the Prefecture, the County Court, the Municipality, the Police and the Fire Brigade. The building was restored for the first time between 1900-1914. The refurbished architecture still preserves the kind of boyish house attached to the ancient mansions of the 19th century. Grupul Statuar "Compania de Mitraliere Maior Ignat in Atac” image
Following the glorious battles waged by the Botosani regiments during the First World War, it was necessary to build a monument commemorating their bravery and sacrifice. The call to the public to raise funds for this monument urged the Botoşans not to forget the sacrifices of their parents, brothers and friends on the battlefield or in hospitals, some buried with care, others with only a handful of rush throwing . The work was done by the sculptor Horia Miclescu, originally from Botoşani, and was unveiled in the summer of 1929. Major Grigore Ignat was captured by the enemy bullets of the central forces in August 1917, together with the regiments he had under his control , in the battle of Razor. The four shields attached to the corners of the socket represent the four historical provinces that joined with Romania after the First World War: Transylvania, Bucovina, Bessarabia and Banat. There are two important symbols on this statue on the base of the statuary group: the seashell - also present on the coat of arms of Botosani County, and the head of Moldavian coat of arms.
