Ceahlău is beautiful
Absolutely beautiful views from the peak of the mountain. Otherwise, the cabins in the woods feel very old (not in a pleasant way) and there's just a few options for drinking and eating. The trails are bad at best. On the bright side, one can still see Edelweiss flowers around the 500 stairs just bellow the Toaca Peak.

The most beautiful mountain in Romania ... or in Europe?
From the base of the mountain the views r breath taking on both sides (Durau and Izvorul Muntelui), from the top .... r the same. If u have strong legs try both paths if u dont ... start from Durau and go back in Durau (just first half hour its difiicult). also from the top of the mountain u can go to Durau on 2 ways but Duruitoarea path have few dangerous areas so ... dont do it if u have kids. Ull come back here (4 me its the 5th visit from 1987).

JUST WOW ... i was about not to go because of time but in 10-15 minutes i was on top and could see the biggest lake in Romania Izvorul Muntelui called also the Sea of Mountains....see my foto on oamenisiganduri.ro
