4.0Museum de Fundatie(808 reviews) - Great museum in an unique glass building in Zwolle Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
Great museum in an unique round glass egg shaped building located in Zwolle, Netherlands . I visited Zwolle solely to see this beautiful museum with great architecture. 4.5De Brink(324 reviews) - Lively and cosy Deventer city square Points of Interest & Landmarks
Very pleasant square with a large variety of historic buildings dating from the 1500s to art-nouveau early 20th century. Of course the Waag (weighing house) from 1528 stands out. Unlike Rotterdam or Arnhem the city escaped major destruction during WOII. With a population of just over 100,000 inhabitants, Deventer has kept its laid back Dutch style ambiance and does not feel as 'cosmopolitanized' as the major cities in the west of the Netherlands. Biggest improvement: the square is car free since 1993. So lots of terraces and space except for market days.See more..
4.0Avonturenpark Hellendoorn(241 reviews) - Fantastic little theme park Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Amusement & Theme Parks
We visited Hellendoorn on the way to Germany from the Hook of Holland. This little theme park looked great for Halloween, with a few extra attractions and actors mingled with the guests. Although there was a large nymber of people inside the que's were light, Balagos roller coaster was running well, the longest que was for the sewer rat coaster. Good value fun park with great food.See more..
4.0Rijksmuseum Twenthe(211 reviews) - Excellent museum, most import works of Artemisia Gentileschi Speciality Museums
Excellent museum! Took a trip to Enschede only to visit Rijksmuseum Twenthe and was not disappointed. My favorite works on display were by baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, the most important representatives of Italian painting, a symbol of the struggle against patriarchy. Entry fee: 15 EUR or free if you hold a Museumkaart. The museum has a nice garden with a terrace where you can enjoy a walk along other art works on display or a coffee.See more..
4.0Sassenpoort(204 reviews) - Watching over Zwolle city since 1406 Wednesday: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Monuments & Statues
The Sassenpoort (English: Sassen gate) is a gatehouse in the citywall of Zwolle, Netherlands. It was built in 1409 out of dimension stone, mostly trachyte and tuff, and restoration work was done in 1893-1898. Beautiful estate with vast gardens to explore! I visited in April having taken the train from Amsterdam for the day as I wanted to explore the gardens and surrounding estate lands for the day. I contacted Baartman Taxis of Hengelo and they provided an affordable pickup/dropoff service from the train station to the Castle and other areas. The gardens were lovely! More greenery than floral, I saw swans, crooked trees, topiaries, and a herd of white deer! A great time to meander and reflect. The gift shop staff were friendly and spoke a bit of English and there was lots of history to discover. See more..

4.5Bootverhuur Giethoorn(179 reviews) - Best way to visit Giethoorn Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM Gear Rentals • Boat Rentals
This quaint Dutch village is called the Venice of Holland and it did not steal its name. There are canals everywhere. And tourists too. it gets very busy during Spring and summer so make sure you get there early in the morning to get a heads start on the canals. We did the big tour, had a stop for lunch at a local farm, Boer On Toer, which makes their own burgers (divine) and apple tart on site, far from the tourist crowd. We finished by a walk around the village to get a closer look at the beautiful houses and the shops and stopped at De Grachthof for a drink and snack on the sunny terrace. Just a perfect day!See more..
4.0Grote of St. Michaelskerk(157 reviews) - a monument in the center of a beautiful place!!! Points of Interest & Landmarks
A monument in the center of a beautiful place, to the center of Zwolle Holland. A very nice attraction!!!See more..
When we visited this museum some years ago the entrance was through a somewhat modest building and free parking round the corner. Today the museum offers a extensive forecourt with beside the improved museum entrance, a nice restaurant annex micro brewery. The museum is about the history of the Ootmarsum area, showing buildings, implements and dioramas about daily life. This open air museum is very interesting; entrance for a fee, free entrance with the annual Dutch museum pass. Limited metered parking only in the vicinity. I recommend to park in one of the free parking lots and use the (approximately) 10 minutes walk to visit the charming historic center of Ootmarsum.See more..
4.5Holten Canadian War Cemetery(149 reviews) - A beautiful place with a powerful message. Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Cemeteries • Monuments & Statues
This cemetery is different things to different people. It's beauty with striking gardens and monuments. Particularly while suited to engaging young people. They also Have a large wall with Twente painters work that is nice to see during the visit. We certainly recommend it for a morning or an afternoon both for groups with or without children.See more..

This nature reserve is quite unique because of the varied landscape. When we arrived the hail was just stopped so with all the hail that were still on the ground, it was so beautiful. 4.0De Peperbus Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren(91 reviews) - Best views of Zwolle. Great experience. Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 4:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
This tower will give you the best view in the city of Zwolle. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and courteous. It is only 3.50 euro and after you pay you just wait 5 mins for one of the staff to open the door to the tower and let you in. The church is small and will only take 5 to 10 mins. The tower climb should take no more than 30 mins to go up and down, read the information panels and enjoy the views while taking pictures. If there is one place to get the best panoramic views of Zwolle, this place is it! I visited every place in Zwolle that had views over the city and this one was the best.See more..

The Weerribben-Wieden National Park, with over 10,000 hectares, is the largest continuous low peat bog area in northwestern Europe. A labyrinth of ponds and lakes. A must do!See more..
4.5Stedelijk Museum Kampen(86 reviews) - A must do when in Kampen! Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Art Museums • History Museums
The Stedelijk Museum Kampen is located in the old town hall of Kampen. It has a collection consisting of four main themes: law, religion, water and the House of Orange. A highlight in the museum is the Aldermen's Hall from 1545, where justice was administered until 1795. The Schepenzaal is still in its original state. There are five changing exhibitions every year, including contemporary art. In the Former Synagogue on the IJsselkade, in addition to the changing art exhibitions on the ground floor, there is a permanent memorial exhibition on the Jewish history of Kampen in the gallery of the exhibition space.See more..
4.0Oyfo Techniekmuseum(84 reviews) - Technical heritage of Hengelo. A great afternoon out. Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
Looking for a place to visit on a Sunday afternoon??? Opens at 12:00 and closes at 17:00. Did not have enough time to visit it all. Too many little gems to get lost in. Suitable for young and old. The older can see all the technical changes and reminisce. The younger get a history lesson. A lot of the information is only in Dutch but that does not detract from the experience. We had a super time looking at all the pressure gauges, engines and electrical tech on the ground floor. Moved on to the first floor to experience telephony and then to the second for a trip down video game memory lane. It is only a few minutes walk from Hengelo train station. It has plenty of toilet provision and a cafe. For those who need it there is a lift. See more..
4.0Museum de Fundatie(83 reviews) - Pim Trooster - Interventions & Martin Roemers - Relics of the Cold War Speciality Museums
Currently there are two great temporary exhibitions in castle Het Nijenhuis - the second location "in the green" of Museum de Fundatie of Zwolle. Pim Troosters makes highly imaginative contemporary art which he has interspersed into the permanent collection in the castle - taking into account the art that surrounds his piece. Interventions very well done! Martin Roemers shows a good collection of somewhat moody photographs, documented the fall and decline of military installations associated with the cold war - mostly in Eastern Europe but also in the Netherlands. These are exhibited in a separate building on site. Afterwards a stroll through the beautiful sculpture garden and a coffee in the museum cafe make for a complete day of art entertainment.See more..

First visit to this beautiful part of the Netherlands. Formed by a glacier from Scandinavia in the Ice Age, this National Park feels very 'un Dutch'. We stayed in the Landal Park, from where we could walk, cycle or drive in to the park. At first sight, it looks like National Park de Hoge Veluwe, but this park is certainly more diverse in landscape, flora and fauna. I can definitely recommend a visit!See more..

This Dominican convent is a place to marvel and contemplate. This neogotic complex is openend in 1901 and consists of a church and monastery. There are Catholic celebrations each weekend and also a lot of spirtual and philosophical activities during the week. This church is daily opend for visitors (tuesday-saturday 13.30-16.30). Special features of the church are the stained glass windows almost all made by a dominican brother. You can see the inspiration of the worldfamous stained glass windows in Chatres in one of the windows. The beautiful mosaic floor in the choir of the church celebrates the creation of the world with the four elements of the earth and the constellations. It's located just outside the citycanals in the district Assendorp at the beginning of the Assendorperstraat. A street with nice shops as well.
