Wonderful National Park
First visit to this beautiful part of the Netherlands. Formed by a glacier from Scandinavia in the Ice Age, this National Park feels very 'un Dutch'. We stayed in the Landal Park, from where we could walk, cycle or drive in to the park. At first sight, it looks like National Park de Hoge Veluwe, but this park is certainly more diverse in landscape, flora and fauna. I can definitely recommend a visit!

One of the most beautiful National Nature Areas
The Sallandse Heuvelrug is one of the most beautiful National Nature Areas in the Netherlands. The landscape is very varied with beautiful views, large heather plains, dense forests and lots of peace and space. Tip: walk the Pieterpad from Nijverdal to Holten and return by train (change in Wierden).

Super national park with well marked paths
The National Park Sallandse Heuvelrug offers a lot of outdoor activity, whether you are mountain/biking, horseriding or on foot. The paths are very well marked and there are several places to sit down and eat or drink.
