-Lots of fun!
Amusement & Theme Parks
We went on a wet day during the summer, whilst visiting family in Holland. Our two girls aged 8 and 11 had a fantastic time. Only downside was they change the speed of the rapids so my youngest couldn’t go in them. Would have been handy to know the times these change so we could have done a few more runs. But all in all a great family few hours of fun! Would recommend. See more..

-Ice sculpture festival outing
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Convention Centers
Bought ticket online which was easy and quickly done. 20 min walk from Zwolle train station. Only found out afterwards that there was a free bus ride to and from the station to the event. The hall with all the ice sculpture was like -10 deg and it was busy inside and a bit over crowded for my liking. But besides that it was very well layed out and some brilliant sculptures which must of taken some time to produce. An event well worth visiting I believe. See more..

-Small, free
Speciality Museums • History Museums
The weaver's house is small. Nevertheless there are quite many items on display in the old house, including two weaving machines. In the neighbouring house there is a 'mooi kamer', a representative room of a century or so ago. They could use a little more exhibition space. Also, the museum is not well indicated on the street signs, but it is next to the nicest looking church. See more..

- 3.5 Botermarkt Deventer (12 reviews)
-From the 1880s: using cast iron to make a place look good
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites
Compare this butter market hall from 1889 to what they make nowadays. Craftmanship at the turn of the 19th century was still valued in its own right. In this case wrought iron was used to make the place attractive (no blatant commercial advertising to buy this or that). Home made butter was sold here (no cheap industrial Unilever margarine). And look what have they done with this historic gem: they turned it into a place to park bicycles! See more..
- 3.5 Synagoge van Kampen (11 reviews)
-Reminding us ...
Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries • Historic Sites • Religious Sites
See more..

-Private property surrounded by beautiful park
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas • Architectural Buildings
The 17th century manor can only be seen from a distance, as it still is the private residence of the count (van Rechteren Limpurg). The surroundings on a Sunday in November are marvelous, because of the autumn colors and green quiet spaces along the allée. What is left of the estate is a heaven for hikers and cyclists: 16 km of trails and small roads through forest and farmland. See more..

- 3.5 Brandmonument 1862 (6 reviews)
-Commemorating a devastating fire
Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
Fifty years after a fire devastated a large part of Enschede's city center, this monument was unveiled. The sculptured part of it I found pretty attractive, though I doubt if the depicted men who attempt to extinguish fire (in social realist style) actually were bare chested. The design of the monument as a whole is rather poor. See more..

- 3.0 Wijngaard Baan (4 reviews)
-Interesting place.
Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
I visited here with a group of friends. We had booked to come as a group, and we had paid for a light lunch with tea or coffee in the small tea and coffee room, a short tour and talk about the grapes, and what happens to them after they have been picked, and then finally a wine tasting experience. This place is in a peaceful area of the countryside, and is slightly off the beaten track. Thankfully, there are a couple of signs along the country lanes to tell you which direction to go for the vineyard. The vineyard is quite large, but the building where they make and bottle the wine is quite small in comparison. The wine tasting experience was very interesting. Most of the wines I tasted were not really to my liking, tasting rather like vinegar, but I am sure that sometimes it is an acquired taste, before you start to like them. But my first taste of most of them was not all that special because I could not get used to the taste of them. Before we left, one of my friends bought a bottle of one of the wines we had tasted and another friend bought a small jar of wine jelly. Both the bottle and the jar were expensive in my opinion, but my friends seemed pleased with their purchases. We were lucky that the weather was great on the day that we visited, and we all had an interesting and pleasant time here. I will recommend it to others but I do not think that I will return here myself. See more..

-Fun Afternoon
Boat Rentals
Neither of us had ever piloted a small boat, but we decided to give it a try. After a rocky start with my friend at the tiller, we were able to steer a relatively straight course, which was a lot more restful (but less exciting) than bumping into the canal walls or the other boats. One negative--the staff at the boat rental are all teens who were of little help. Would we do it again--You Betcha! See more..

You can read it on the information board that this church is located on the church square and that is the oldest part of Goor. The building has 2 different colours. The tower was from 1500 and probably after the bombing during the Eighty Years' War in 1581, it was restored in 2 colours. It was not open when we're there. See more..
- 3.5 Gemeente Hardenberg (2 reviews)
-The Beehive
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Government Buildings
The modern city hall of Hardenberg is a compact circular yellowish building located between the center and the Vechtpark. Ever since 2012, the year of its inception it has caused controversy. In 2015 it got a prize for being the "Ugliest Building in the Netherlands" (sample of 5000 votes from among people working in the construction sector). For me the structure does not look out of place and the form (different surfaces in circular composition) is refreshing after having seen so many boring square office buildings in other Dutch cities. Moreover, architects Branimir Medić en Pero Puljiz paid attention to energy efficiency. This is not the reason why locals often call it "de bijenkorf" (the beehive). See more..
- 3.5 Kalheupink Park (2 reviews)
-The English Garden of Oldenzaal
Parks
Kalheupinkpark is located on the outskirts of Oldenzaal. The park is arranged in English style. It's open for the public and locals come with their dog. There are some artwork in the park, one of them is the work of Iris Le Rütte, "Iucundi acti labores", the same one we've seen in a small town "Noordwelle" at the south west of the Netherlands. The park is well managed, clean and not too big. In the middle of the park there is a special tree, "Oriental Plane" tree and it's an eye-catcher because of its whimsical shape. Not to forget the beauty of kind of an antique dovecote. See more..
