In the week we stayed in Ootmarsum, this attraction was so much fun that we visited it three times, bringing friends along with us each time. The demonstrator, Mark Locock, presents the step-by-step method of blowing glass into a complicated bowl formation. He is English by birth but explains everything in Dutch, caricaturing his learning experiences with the gutteral sounds special to Dutch language, and this has the locals killing themselves with laughter. Not to worry! You too will laugh because Mark is a born comedian and his facial expressions and his body language will have you in stitches. He inserts English explanations in between so that English-speaking people understand the process as well. Demonstrations take place at about 2 p.m. each afternoon. It's best to reserve seats in the morning as performances can fill up quickly, especially if there are tours coming. On busy days, a second performance was given. In the gift shop there are pieces of form - bowls, vases, stem flowers in glass. Colleague John Burton makes geometric sculptures in glass (not blown), and one other sculptor in glass has work there too. On the walls, there are reproductions of Marius van Dokkum, illustrations of Dutch life in a realistic style. These too will keep you smiling. The remainder of the items in the shop are mostly hand-crafted jewellry. If you get to Ootmarsum, destination city in Holland for contemporary art and craft, don't miss this venue.See more..

Before we leave Giethoorn we were looking for a souvenir shop . We stepped in and we were surprised by the products that this shop have. it's all hand made gifts and when we asked about small magnetic souvenir the owner lady told us that they only sell handmade souvenir at their shop. the shop has many creative things to choose from and the owner was extremely friendly and you can tell that she is interested of what she is doing .See more..

My husband and I visited here, and we were surprised at just how many small animals and birds that they have here in indoor cages and pens. The cages and pens are quite small, so I do hope that they let the animals out of the building where they are, and let them run around and get some fresh air regularly. There is even a large horse inside a building where the other animals are, and it is in a very small stable. We walked around outside and came across two cats in a small cage. I was so upset to see the cats caged liked that. I hope they let them out eventually. There are quite a few animals outside who have plenty of room to walk or run around, which is nice.There is also an outdoor children's play area. We also saw that there is a shop and coffee room, but it is open at limited times. I think this is a very interesting place for small children, although it left sadness in my heart to see these poor animals living in such small indoor pens and cages, especially the cats. We will return in the near future.See more..
ERF-1 is a farm where they produce organic dairy. A small herd with varied cows, which stand outside on the land during the summer. The land is not treated with chemical pesticides. In the farm shop you can buy raw milk, but also pasteurized milk, yogurt, different types of custard, hangop, buttermilk, butter, cottage cheese and recently also cheese. They also sell organic meat. The farm is run by the parents and two of their children. At the opening times you can view the farm and the animals (also fun for the children!). They are happy to tell about their work and are very willing to give information about organic work at the farm. It is all about the combination of healthy land, healthy animals, healthy products and a healthy lifestyle. The farm and the farm shop are open to visit on Friday afternoon, from 2 to 4 pm and on Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon.See more..
