4.0De Peperbus Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren(91 reviews) - Best views of Zwolle. Great experience. Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 4:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
This tower will give you the best view in the city of Zwolle. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and courteous. It is only 3.50 euro and after you pay you just wait 5 mins for one of the staff to open the door to the tower and let you in. The church is small and will only take 5 to 10 mins. The tower climb should take no more than 30 mins to go up and down, read the information panels and enjoy the views while taking pictures. If there is one place to get the best panoramic views of Zwolle, this place is it! I visited every place in Zwolle that had views over the city and this one was the best.See more..

4.5St. Plechelmusbasilie(35 reviews) - Fabulous views from the tower Churches & Cathedrals
Fabulous views from the tower. The top is quite exposed and vulnerable to the wind. The climb up is quite long and some nervous people would find it too daunting. A tour guide (bookable at the Information Center) is essential but provided a really informative tour, lasting over an hour. The church is interesting too. Pick up a guide to its featuresSee more..

4.0Grote Kerk(16 reviews) - One of the oldest buildings in the city centre Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
The city of Enschede is not the most historic in it's buildings, but the few which are there are beautiful. One of them is the 'Grote Kerk' (church) in the middle of the 'Oude Markt' (the former central Marketplace of Enschede). Parts of the tower and walls of the church have been built in the 12th century. Before then there also existed a smaller church in that spot. The church has wonderful stained glass windows and inside you'll find the the very beautiful 'Van Dam' organ. This organ is used fooe organ concerts. The church itself is also used for concerts and other cultural events.See more..

4.0Broederenkerk(12 reviews) - Experience peace in Brederenkerk ,a beautiful church Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
In the busy streets of Deventer I discovered this unknown church ,where I entered without paying .I found there some reading material about it ,the church was founded in 1335 by princess Eleonore of England ,wife of Duke Reinald of Gelre. The church belonged to the monastery of the Franciscan monks ,who made it a center of spiritual life .Just like Lebuinus church ,it was taken by Protestants in the 16 th century. During the French period ,it became a warehouse and stable for war -horses by the soldiers .In 1799 the church was given back to the Roman Catholic.L .Napoleon visited the church and gave money for a new altar .In the 19 -th century it was renovated and extended.I liked the stained -glass windows ,I really enjoyed my short visit .See more..
4.0Basiliek van de Heilige Kruisverheffing(9 reviews) - this church has received 'basilica minor' status and is worth a visit Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
There are only 20 churches in the Netherlands that have the 'basilica minor' status (and 1500 in the world). The only four 'basilica major' churches are all inside the Vatican. This churh in Raalte is large compared to the small town it is in. It is a beautiful majestic building worth your visit. The outside is gorgeous, the inside has a lot of detailed artful and colorful decorations.See more..

4.0Brigittakerk of Ned.Herv.Kerk te Ommen(5 reviews) - Charming, rather complex church building Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Churches & Cathedrals
This late Gothic style church lies a bit higher than the rest of the city, as it is located on an old river dune. Parts of the ancient structure from before a destructive fire in 1624 are still visible in the foundation and lower parts of the main building. Instead of a tower the rebuilt 17th century church got a remarkable square clockhouse in front. Inside two clocks date from 1517. The present-day tower was added in 1857. The church was dedicated to Brigida, the Irish patron-saint of cattle, but the Dutch Reformed who took charge after 1587 do not encourage the worship of saints. Most people refer to the church as "de Hervormde Kerk". Overall a rather complex structure, but really charming.See more..

4.0Plaskerk(4 reviews) - not the most beautiful church in this quiet town Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
The Plaskerk in Raalte stems from the 1100s and has been through renovations on a number of occasions. The interior decoration is rather simple and toned down, although the bow like ceiling elements are nice. The outside of the building is an eclectic mix of stones of different sizes and colors. Not the most beautiful church in town. But worth a visit to explore and experience nevertheless.See more..
4.5Hervormde Kerk(4 reviews) - A surprisingly bright and welcoming church. Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
Whereas I expected to find evidence of door Protestantism (Scottish upbringing!) I was surprised when we entered this church to find that it was completely different. With its white walls and high windows it had a bright air to it, which was perfectly augmented by the light blue of the ceiling. The rest of the church has a simple design, with the eye drawn to the attractive pulpit.See more..

You can read it on the information board that this church is located on the church square and that is the oldest part of Goor. The building has 2 different colours. The tower was from 1500 and probably after the bombing during the Eighty Years' War in 1581, it was restored in 2 colours. It was not open when we're there.See more..
4.5Protestantse Kerk D'Oale Grieze(2 reviews) - Combination of Gothic and Roman architecture Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
Remarkable old church in the center of Hellendoorn with a 12th century Roman style nave. The church consists of three major sections of which the late-Gothic eastern part I found the most beautiful, though the tower is charming as well. It is the lively center of the protestant community in Hellendoorn. When I visited on a Sunday afternoon there was an activity for children. The church has the same nickname as the Martinichurch in Groningen "D'Oale Grieze"See more..

Originally a chapel to serve the Lords of Almelo (15th century), but gradually developed into a church for the whole Christian community in the city. Since 1619 it is a Protestant church. Most of the present-day structure dates from the 19th century, though the older gothic center piece and tower remained intact.. A truly historic landmark in a modern city.See more..

3.5Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk Of Buitenkerk(2 reviews) - Reerected by Catholics in 1809 Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Churches & Cathedrals
Outside (buiten) the city walls a Christian church dedicated to Mary was built over a period of time starting in 1369. Eventually this church got into decay. It was reduced to a pile of stones (een hoop stenen) according to a Catholic priest in 1809. In this year Louis Napoleon (French ruler of Holland) granted the minority Catholics in Kampen persmission to rebuild a church at the site. They built the present day church in neogothic style. Not as big as the Protestant Bovenkerk, but large enough to show they could come close to parity. Unlike the Bovenkerk, this church is still a place of worship and a center of the Catholic community in Kampen.See more..
