My husband and I visited the town yesterday afternoon and, just like our past day-time experiences, this town was almost empty of shoppers. Every single time we have been here, there are some sort of building works or road works going on. A Dutch friend said they are changing Almelo and bringing more water into the town so as to bring in more visitors on boats etc. I don't know if I got that right, but certainly there is a lot of work going on around the town centre. If you like to go shopping without any crowds of people around, then you will like Almelo on a weekday as it is really so very empty of people. I have heard that there are more people around in the evenings in the restaurants and sitting outside on the terraces. We are intending to return again one evening next month, to sit outside with a drink on one of the restaurant/bar terraces!See more..

The name speaks itself (Bostheater = Woodtheater). A theater that is located in the wood, 'de Besthmenerberg'. This area had rich histories, one of them was the presence of Jiddu Krishnamurti, a South Indian Brahmin who was installed as Head of the Order of the Star (1927–1929), based at Ommen. Well, we were here for the free concert of two bands, Pert Near Sandstone (Minnesota) and The Hackensaw Boys (Virginia). It was a good place for concert, the sound was fine, the seats were a bit primitive, natural grass and dirt, but we could borrow cushions from the organization.
