This quaint Dutch village is called the Venice of Holland and it did not steal its name. There are canals everywhere. And tourists too. it gets very busy during Spring and summer so make sure you get there early in the morning to get a heads start on the canals. We did the big tour, had a stop for lunch at a local farm, Boer On Toer, which makes their own burgers (divine) and apple tart on site, far from the tourist crowd. We finished by a walk around the village to get a closer look at the beautiful houses and the shops and stopped at De Grachthof for a drink and snack on the sunny terrace. I went there with a friend yesterday as we saw on the website they have mini golf courses. We reserved it directly at the receoption for a later time. The receptionist was so kind and he said it is fine when we want to do it just before 6:30 pm. After the tour in the village we were back at 5pm, and we got the balls and strokes easily. We were actually the only guest at that moment so we completely enjoyed ourselves in the field and even went back slightly a bit later but they did not charge for the extra fee. We also ordered a box of patat specials, which was ok and the price was reasonable. When we finished, I saw someone was making barbecue outside which smelled good! There were also some kids gathering in the swing and slide area. The bonus point is, the bus station is right outside, which is one stop earlier than the popular in the direction of steenwijk. So we got seats easily on the bus when seeing soooo many people waiting in that popular bus stop.See more..

Met twee kleinkinderen een fluisterboot gehuurd en ruim 2 uur door een prachtig natuurgebied gevaren. Vriendelijke ontvangst en goed uitleg bij vertrek. De kleinkinderen bleken goed in staat het roer over te nemen. De boot was eenvoudig met weinig comfort maar wel betrouwbaar. We hebben genoten van de prachtige omgeving en hebben na terugkomst nog van een drankje genoten op het knusse terras.See more..
Giethoorn is a city with no cars moving usually people park there car and drive the boats wondering around the lanes. So we call it a family adventure and rent our boat see the place, it's so nice. You need only to remember how to operate the boat, and map of the place because it has many lanes. You will feel the local people what they do, how they park their boat, how it look like the houses. Believe me you will not regret to come from Amsterdam only to try this experience.See more..

Neither of us had ever piloted a small boat, but we decided to give it a try. After a rocky start with my friend at the tiller, we were able to steer a relatively straight course, which was a lot more restful (but less exciting) than bumping into the canal walls or the other boats. Wir haben hier für 5d einen Polyfalk gechartert. Der vorherige Online -Kontakt und die Reservierung erfolgten problemlos und nett. Die Übergabe des Bootes durch Herrn Bakker war sehr kompetent. Die Boote befinden sich in einem technisch wie optisch hervorragenden Zustand. Es gab während der Nutzung kein Problem mit dem Boot oder Außenborder. Auch die Rückgabe des Bootes ging reibungslos und schnell ( hier wird nicht versucht, die Kaution einzubehalten durch vorgeworfene Schäden). Wir werden hier auf jeden Fall nochmal ein Boot leihen, denn so macht es Spaß!! Im Charterpaket enthalten Außenborder, Rettungswesten, Anker, Karten, Putzmaterial und Einweisung ins Revier und Vorschlagen von Touren) Ein Campingplatz befindet sich auch an der Anlegestelle.See more..
