4.0Het Engelse Werk(29 reviews) - Trails, grassy areas, views over water, a restaurant, and a nice walk getting there. Hiking Trails
This is a lovely part, although with nothing so remarkable that would tear you away from Zwolle's old town. The walk there (thank you Google maps) took me by some very large older brick homes, under a bridge, and along a waterway with houseboats - pretty nice! The park's greatest attraction were picnic tables by the intertidal area and waterway (I don't know one from another here, ashamed to say). The restaurant, closed Monday, also offers that view. Lots of walking trails with some shade cover. Very peaceful feeling, yet the park was well used with others around - large enough to feel peaceful.See more..
Well, after knowing that the Dinkel river is quite a long one, 89 km way from the Germany accross the border with the Netherland (Overijssel) through some towns and villages, then recrosses the border to Germany again and then joint the river Vecht, I would say that I only saw a very small part of this river. We saw it when we took a walk in the Lutterzand. At some places ( there is a sign of it ) is a resting area for the swallow and kingfisher. The sandy riverbank is beautiful. Nice area for walking.See more..
Railbiking. Where once rolled steam- and freight trains you can now railbike yourself over real train tracks. Bike across bridges, locks and crossings and taste the atmosphere of 125 years of railroad history in Twente.See more..
We started our walk with a cup of tea at the visitor centre "De Wheem". It's such a local museum, too. Very kind lady welcomed us and gave information about the area. This visitor centre has a map of the area carved on the table ( wide piece of wood ), very special. The path was marked by some wooden animal sculptures. Kids were glad playing on the side of the path which was made for them in the nature. It's a nice area for a walkSee more..

The woodlands north-west of Enschede make for a great nature and walking area.I enjoyed seeing the mature oaks and beech-trees and the woodland wildlife. The woodlands reminded me of Twickel estate in Delden.See more..

It's a really nice area to go for a walk. Sometimes there is a wild bunzing, who can be very agressieve. But nice for the hikes or mountainbike. Beautiful natureSee more..
This castle is one of many castles in the area which we're looking for as we did the castle route. We had to walk quite a while as a car is forbidden to enter the small road to the castle. But then it turned out that the castle is privately owned. There was a sign "private property". So we saw it from a distance, it's beautiful, thoughSee more..
