Ice sculpture festival outing
Bought ticket online which was easy and quickly done. 20 min walk from Zwolle train station. Only found out afterwards that there was a free bus ride to and from the station to the event. The hall with all the ice sculpture was like -10 deg and it was busy inside and a bit over crowded for my liking. But besides that it was very well layed out and some brilliant sculptures which must of taken some time to produce. An event well worth visiting I believe.

To see Dutch Darts legend Raymond v.Barneveld play - you must have seen it once!
In the weekend 24-26 may, in de Ijsselhallen in Zwolle, the Dutch Darts Masters tournament was organized. Since I am fan of Barney, the legendary Raymond v.Barnveld that I saw so many times on TV, I took the opportunity to see him play live. The tournament has a lot of show and music/visual spectacle, still it felt a great experience. Although 'Barney' is now in his final year after 25 years at or close to the top (I first saw him on the BBC, in the Lakeside championship as far back as january 1995!) - now it least I have expierenced the atmosfere of such a game. The fans are no less crazy and fantasy-dressed as with the Netherlands National football squad and they are even more stuffed with beer - still the atmosfere is enchanting.

Beautiful Icesculptures
I went to the IJsselhallen for the "IJsbeelden festival". I had read about it online and it looked cool (no pun intended) so I decided to go. I enjoyed seeing all the impressive icesculptures, they made some very unique ones. However it was very cold! I have no idea how cold it was, but defo wear a beanie and gloves. I remember some other icefestival that gave you a big coat and such, that is not the case here...you have to take it yourself! Although they work with timeslots, I did find it a little to walk around well. Some walkpaths are pretty small so when there are people with strollers or people who stand still for photos, passing them is a little hard. Maybe make it a little more spacious next time?
