   Been there first time several years ago. All in all, night market with loads of street food and fake stuff for sale. On the food side, if you want to go on the safe side, try the JIAN BING which is something like a pancake and LIANG Pi, a kinda cold fresh noodle pasta with bean sprouts, coriander, peanuts. Reminds a bit some Thai food. For the stalls selling stuff, don't expect to find the best deal. You want a USD 10,00 BALENCIAGA, you'll get a YAAZIE. You get what you give.    The TianFeng Tower lies at the back entrance to the ChengHuang Temple. Cross a small alley and you will see the ticket office (5元 for entrance). The tower is surrounded by a small garden scattered with a few trees and benches. There are several narrow staircases to the top, they seem to be narrower the higher you get. The top floor is pretty small and the balcony has been sealed off. The view is nothing spectacular but if your new in the area take a look around and get your bearings. The roofs of the nearby buildings are all very traditional and look nice from above. Getting to the tower is easy, its in the centre of Ningbo. Get a bus to KaiMing Jie (开明街) or XianXue Jie (县学街) then head towards the Chenghuan Temple (across the road from MacDonalds). The tower is next to the temple. See more..

   This place is basically a memorandum of Chiang-Kai Check's (Jiang Jie Shi) and his family. Something for history buffs I suppose. It attracts a multitude of Chinese tourists, especially on a holiday, so go here on a weekday if possible. But even if you're not too much into Chinese history, this place is a nice getaway, with dozens of shops where you can buy traditional snacks and have a relaxing time. If you're traveling from Ningbo, the bus 988 takes you all the way from the railway station to this place (1 stop before Mt Xuedou) for like 5 yuan, but it takes almost 2 hours. See more..

   My wife and I love animals and if we are visiting a city and the city has a zoo. It is a must visit for us. We had read some reviews that the zoo is not that great but we were quite satisfied with what we saw. Lions, tigers, leopards, bears, camels, zebras, giraffes, different types of monkeys, pandas, elephants, hippo, ostrich, kangaroos, reptiles and birds. It took us about 3-4 hours to go around. It is atop hill but we did not hike. We took a cab up and then back to the city. Be ready to walk up and down to go through the whole park. Overall we as a young couple were satisfied. See more..

   I think the best way to feel the island is to have a road trip around is and stop anywhere, where is safe, and view the scenic beauty, feel the fresh&salty wind, and take pictures. They do not have many coffee shop here, but they have many comfortable teahouses. You can enjoy tea and snack during chatting with your friends. The life is slow here. Although the sand on beaches are not white and bright, which is dark yellow I guess, they are soft and comfy to have a walk. The sand also makes coastal water "unclear" but it is clean blue and green during "peace and calm" weather lol. Off coastal water are completely clean especially during good weather days. .......     Having done rafting in other countries, we thought we should give it a try in China, especially since Anji is quite well known for this activity. For starters, I will clarify that this is not the same as the type of rafting in Alaska or New Zealand. In fact, the Chinese word actually translates to drifting. Two are allocated to each dinghy, although they allow for single riders or three riders, provided the child is of a very young age. You drift through a series of “rapids” which are really more like water slides. Each dinghy are provided with a pair of oars and a water scoop. The latter comes in very handy as water tends to flow into the dinghy after going through each “rapid”. We went as a group of about 20 people and all of us had a great time. The only thing that wasn’t so good is the wait and the crowds. If you are also not good with crowds, then I would suggest against going on a weekend or vacation period. See more..

    Lin'an County is trying to develop itself as a tourist destination but they don't do themselves any favours by charging 90 yuan for a mildly interesting and very minor sight like Baishui Waterfall. I understand that there is a shortage of clean air and greenery in Eastern China these days, but is it really fair to ask for $15 to see a single babbling brook and a 10 metre cataract? These are just not major sights, and 20 yuan would be a fairer price. In terms of forest, there is little apart from bamboo to speak of. It just doesn't seem to be reasonable to for this much money to see bamboo in China. They have made a maze in the bamboo with a Chinese zodiac theme. Such tacky "attractions" do nothing to improve matters. Nor do concrete pavilions, pathways and statues. Really, this place is little more than an overpriced tourist trip.     We drove over from Xikou to spend the day in this mountain park. It is filled with lakes, mountains, vistas and a hotel we were told was a 5 star hotel. I didn't stay there but the facilities around the hotel were not what I would consider 5 star by western standards. This large National Forest Park has a lot to see but it all involves a lot of walking so see any of it. There is a special Geological section of the park for those who are interested in different geological formations and how they all present themselves in this one area. I did enjoy hiking down some of the mountainsides and seeing some of the trails that have been built over the years but if you're not into a lot of hiking and climbing stairs, this is not the place for you.     Only until recent 20 years, this special gold mine was discovered by people and everyone was surpprised to find that the mine was at least opened 1200 years ago till about 400 years ago. Ancient Chinese used quite simple and rough tools (many many charcoal) and managed to creat a very complex and astonishing stereoscopic mine. You can see some thing shining on the mine wall.     Wang Yuan was the Commander-in-Chief of the imperial army in the Song Dynasty. After the so-called Mingshou Mutiny, Wang fled to Hangzhou, where many of his descendants still live today. One such moved to Xitang and build this historic house and garden in what is now Xitang Old Town. It is typical of the upper-class residences of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, artfully blending the man made structures with the natural rocks, streams and gardens surrounding it. Wang's House is not to be confused with Wang Refined Hostel, which is located nearby.
