An Overpriced Tourist Trap
Lin'an County is trying to develop itself as a tourist destination but they don't do themselves any favours by charging 90 yuan for a mildly interesting and very minor sight like Baishui Waterfall. I understand that there is a shortage of clean air and greenery in Eastern China these days, but is it really fair to ask for $15 to see a single babbling brook and a 10 metre cataract? These are just not major sights, and 20 yuan would be a fairer price. In terms of forest, there is little apart from bamboo to speak of. It just doesn't seem to be reasonable to for this much money to see bamboo in China. They have made a maze in the bamboo with a Chinese zodiac theme. Such tacky "attractions" do nothing to improve matters. Nor do concrete pavilions, pathways and statues. Really, this place is little more than an overpriced tourist trip. Unless they sharply cut prices, don't bother.
