El Real Casino de Murcia (Royal Casino of Murcia) is an emblematic building in the city of Murcia. Its unique architecture combines modernist and eclectic artistic styles, and the beauty of the building awakes the admiration of all visitors. In fact, it is the most visited civil building in Murcia. It is situated in the heart of the city centre, on Calle Trapería, close to the Cathedral. The Royal Casino hosts a great variety of cultural activities, such as art exhibitions, talks, conferences, three book clubs and book launches. Institutional ceremonies and business events are also held in the Royal Casino. The splendour of the historic building is perfectly preserved yet it is adapted to modern times.See more..

4.5Bateria de Castillitos(919 reviews) - Worth the trip! Views are stunning! Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is an absolutely stunning fort with beautiful views. It’s so interesting it was built in the 20th century! Read the Wikipedia article before as there is no signage. It’s about an hour drive from Cartagena. Since we didn’t have a car in Spain, we hired a private driver so that we could feel comfortable we knew the price, time, and were confirmed in advance. We heard taxis will sometimes take people but not always and for the same price if not more. We thought the drive would be worse than it was given other reviews, but I have traveled a lot and done lots of twisty narrow roads. We spent an hour wandering around which was enough to get the feel and get plenty of photos. I could see people spending 30 minutes to 2 hours there depending on your adventure appetite and the heat. I agree with other posts it is NOT safe for young children. It is completely abandoned fort with lots of ledges.See more..

4.5Museo Foro Romano Molinete(602 reviews) - Very well presented archaeological site Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Roman Forum Museum stands as the entrance to one of the largest urban archaeological parks in Spain. Throughout its various halls, where a careful selection of pieces is exhibited, you will be able to learn about the long history of Cerro del Molinete from today back to the old Carthago Nova. The visit concludes with a tour of important remains of the glorious Roman era that invite you to stroll through them: the Curia or local senate with its richly decorated marble pavement; the Colonial Forum, the city’s neuralgic centre, the distribution of which symbolised at various levels the hierarchy between the divine and the human; the Sanctuary of Isis where the mystery cults of the Egyptian gods were celebrated; the old roads with cart tracks; the port’s thermal baths and in particular its magnificent entrance portico with its original flooring; and to finish the Atrium Building, with its high walls and pictorial decorations that transport you to the great banquets of the Roman EmpireSee more..

4.5Caravaca de la Cruz(442 reviews) - Running of the wine horses Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Well what a fantastic fiesta. May 2nd every year is a bank holiday for the town to which they celebrate the running of the wine horses, a spectacle not to be missed. We drove there, easy to park in the side streets and wandered into the main part of the old town. We were greeted with hundreds of locals ready to watch the beautifully decorated horses run. Get as close to the castle as you can and stand clear as they thunder down the road and you literally watch the crowds part as the horses miss the spectators by inches. 60 horses ran. Started 1400-2100. See more..
Visited the church many years ago with my mother and father while on holiday in La Manga. Quite a drive in the coach up to the church it was very, steep side to the road the driver of the coach drove quite close to the side of the road and my mother was a bit freighted as she sat by one of the windows of the coach facing the steep drop next to the road. We were told that some Spanish people went on the knees up to the church on a sort of Pilgrimage to the Saint. A.nd I remember the name of the church too The alter piece inside the church is worth looking at too As I remember. Worth the trip on the coach alsoSee more..
I’m not religious at all but I’m glad I went. A special place to go amazing how it was built into the hillside. A very peaceful place even if like me you’re not a believer it’s well worth a visit.See more..
This is a little known deal, but a terrific budget tip. When you walk in the Palacio, there is a rope blocking the entrance and guards. You are welcome to go in, you just have to have your bag checked. To the left is a little table with a sign that indicates the next tour time. In days there is a cruise ship in port, most of the tours are in English. The tour cost 1E per person and is well worth it. Our tour guide, Valeri, guided us through the building and gave us interesting stories about the building and the government entities that call it home. She also generously took pictures of anyone who wanted their picture taken in counsel chamber or on the grand staircase. The Palacio is an easy walk from the port and one of the first things you come to on the left as you walk from the port up Calle Mayor.See more..
4.5El Zulo(229 reviews) - El Zuno Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
We have visited Cartagena several times and always pay a visit to this superb statue located by the port area and is surrounded by other art close by. It was put there for a reminder to every visitor about Terrorism and the loss of life and injuries caused by those that don’t get their own way. Spain has had a long history of this by a group calling themselves ETA. Unfortunately the reminder is somewhat lost by many tourists having their picture taken by El Zuno’s private area.See more..

4.5Las Charcas Mud Baths(175 reviews) - Mud baths great fun Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Beaches
We went here as a family, you will need to take with you a container to collect the mud. We entered from a small wooden pier, you have steps into the shallow warm waters. We found the mud better for collecting at the right side of the small pier. We then came out of the water to apply the mud all over. After the mud had dried we went back in to the water from the pier to wash off the mud. You can float in the shallow water as it is so salty. It is great family fun Tip: Get there early to get parked nearbySee more..

4.0Plaza de Espana(94 reviews) - Just wander about Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
You can park up if you are driving, near the railway station (€1.45 for about 3 hours). Start walking around the little streets, stop for coffee or cocktails just about anywhere. The shops are quite good (so I'm told) look up at the buildings! Still a lot of evidence of the big earthquake about 6 years ago, patched up repaired houses some with retained facades under bracing, to be saved later. Sit in the plaza by the Cathedral and just enjoy. If you are lucky enough the bells will chime. If your hungry there are lots of nice places to eat. 1/2 a day is about right.See more..

We visited in September 2021 after a two year gap and were delighted once again with the experience. The Bodegas is full of history and so interesting to learn about the grapes processed and the cooperatives involved in making this such a successful winery. The huge barrels in the cellar areas are simply a 'must see'! Very enthusiastic and knowledgable tour guide Magui, who also looks after the delightful shop. Great range of wines, and also available on line. Our tour included tastings and light tapas to accompany the wines.Although this was our second visit we still learnt a lot from the tour. Good, easy communication with the Bodegas prior to our visit. 4.5Castillo de Jumilla(51 reviews) - €2 Castle Admission - Fantastic Views Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
A lovely way to spend a few hours on a Sunday to see this castle and quite a nice walk up the top . The path we went up is up is 1.2Km & quite steep in places (max.16.5% gradient) It must be the path the bus takes. The path is flat & paved, with a bicycle lane painted to one side. We parked our car at the bottom of the path, as the sign there clearly says vehicles are prohibited, however cars & motorcycles did drive up though ? It was a leisurely 25-30min walk up to the castle, taking in the views over Jumilla and beyond as we went. The entrance fee is now €2 per person. There were plenty of interesting displays and information about the castle and its history & renovation work. There is a seating area outside the castle, so you can sit & take your time surveying the fantastic views. From the top, we could see another, winding small path which is on the opposite side to where we walked up and looks to be a more steeper climb. Overall well worth the visit.See more..
4.5La Bastida(50 reviews) - One of the best places i have visited in Spain Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Prehistoric settlement from 1600 to 2100BC. Take a guided walk around this site which once housed 1000 people from the Agaric culture. This hierarchical society had slaves and lived mostly on cereal. They buried their dead in cysts or pots within their houses. It is an absolutely fabulous opportunity to understand a very different way of life. Ancient Troy is the closest civilisation to this one. You finish the tour in a reproduction of the homes you have been walking through. Mind-blowing.See more..

If you make the effort and push on to the top you'll be rewarded with cracking views and be able to explore the old fortifications from the civil war and see the two huge artillery pieces still in unused condition. Worth starting early though in the summer months as by 10-11am it's roasting up there!See more..

4.5Porche de San Antonio(10 reviews) - Recuperación histórica interesante Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
See more..
