El Real Casino de Murcia (Royal Casino of Murcia) is an emblematic building in the city of Murcia. Its unique architecture combines modernist and eclectic artistic styles, and the beauty of the building awakes the admiration of all visitors. In fact, it is the most visited civil building in Murcia. It is situated in the heart of the city centre, on Calle Trapería, close to the Cathedral. The Royal Casino hosts a great variety of cultural activities, such as art exhibitions, talks, conferences, three book clubs and book launches. Institutional ceremonies and business events are also held in the Royal Casino. The splendour of the historic building is perfectly preserved yet it is adapted to modern times. See more..
  2. 4.0 Castillo de la Concepción (638 reviews)
    - Oasis of calm in the busy city
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
    Castillo de la Concepción image
The Conception Castle is the best starting point to discover the city and acquire an overview of its 3,000 years of history. Located on the hill of the same name, it has served as the enclave to a Roman temple dedicated to Asclepius, a Muslim fortress, a medieval castle or the place where the siren was installed that warned the population of the bombing during the Civil War. Also, from the fortress, one can obtain the best panoramic views of the city and its natural port. Everything within reach thanks to the panoramic lift that saves walking up the hill. See more..

Museo Azul de la Semana Santa image
Beautiful embroidery, with appropriate acknowledgement of the skill of the embroiderers, who can be seen carrying out their intricate work. There are descriptions in Spanish and English, clear and informative, while video footage of the Semana Santa processions show the magnificent costumes in use. A unique experience, not to be missed. 5. 4.5 Factoría Romana De Salazones (17 reviews)

    Factoría Romana De Salazones image
Hidden in quite a nondescript building we found this delightful museum of Roman archeology, built over the actual Roman ruins of the salt / fish factory. Very well appointed with raised walkways, sections of glass flooring, you can get up close and enjoy the site. Lots of Roman pottery exhibits. Free entry too! See more..

Museo Municipal Palacio Baron de Benifayo o La Casa de la Rusa image
A mixed collection of archeological finds and fossils, and a room full of, what can only be described as, curiosities connected to the region. Please note that none of the descriptions are in English, and I do not believe the custodians speak much English if any. Spanish is the only language. See more..

  8. 4.0 Museo de San Javier (10 reviews)
    - Local museum
    Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
    Museo de San Javier image
This small local museum is based on the ground floor around an inner courtyard, with an upper area where exhibitions and meetings are held. The courtyard holds a DO27 light aircraft from the 1960s era (built under licence in Spain as CASA 127) which is deteriorating in the open. The main exhibition areas are neatly laid out and depict rooms and contents plus farm implements and fishing back in the day. There’s also an area dedicated to the nearby Air Force training base but a lot of the historic photos actually relate to the old sea plane base at Los Alcazares. Opening times vary seasonally and all information panels are in Spanish. See more..

We went here on a Monday, forgetting that everything seems to close on Mondays in Spain! Fortunately, we were met by someone who we presume to be one of the main curators of this small but lovely collection, who was kind enough to show us around for a little while. Not a lot of English spoken if at all, but it's so worth a visit! Lovely little collection of everything to do with the sea around San Pedro and the Mar Menor, from models of the various types of fishing boats to a giant sponge and various other sea creatures. What was by far the most attractive feature was the enthusiasm of the gentleman though! Well worth a little visit, but come any day other than Monday! See more..

Free to enter, friendly staff and a great range of artefacts (including: Ancient, Roman, Medieval and recent history). Note that all the information is in Spanish (obviously). Really well laid out and informative, great way to learn about the area and it's history. Note: It is closed on a Monday. See more..
  11. 4.0 Museo Ciudad de Mula (8 reviews)
    - Newly Renovated
    History Museums
    Museo Ciudad de Mula image
When we visited the museum it was in the final stages of renovation but even then it was a very good visit. The renovation is very sympathetic to what I’d imagine the building looked like in the past, it really helped to show the exhibits off to their best. The exhibits themselves focussed on the history of the area, including the Roman period when there was a strong presence in the area. The museum isn’t very large, but it does mean that you can have a good look at most things in a couple of hours. There is street parking in the immediate area. Well worth a visit if you’d like to learn more about the Murcia area. See more..

    - Visita Imprescindible, sin duda el mejor museo en Lorca
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM Art Museums • Children's Museums • History Museums
    Casa Del Artesano image
