- A magical view of the sky at night. Book in advance with the tourist office.

We booked tickets in advance with the tourist office. We drove up the hill to the observatory in daylight. The road was NOT hair-raising. Having arrived a bit early, we had a mooch round. There is a clear path giving the scale of "distances" between planets in our solar system. We saw a fox and other wildlife and saw the sun set over the mountains. Magical. There was a short presentation (Spanish) in the auditorium before going to "the big 'scope". We took it in turns to look at 3 different aspects including the Milky Way. We then went to the roof to look at the sky. WOW! With a laser pointer we could clearly SEE what was being explained - even if the full Spanish went over my head. We took binoculars and a red torch, we left the cardigan in the car - but suggest you have yours. There was another tetescope on the roof - and we saw the rings of Saturn. Amazing. Yes it was in Spanish - but if you're interested in the night sky, we found it a GREAT experience! See more..
