Visited the church many years ago with my mother and father while on holiday in La Manga. Quite a drive in the coach up to the church it was very, steep side to the road the driver of the coach drove quite close to the side of the road and my mother was a bit freighted as she sat by one of the windows of the coach facing the steep drop next to the road. We were told that some Spanish people went on the knees up to the church on a sort of Pilgrimage to the Saint. Set in the hillside of the Sierra Espuna, this beautiful building is a must see for anyone in the area. The interior of the building has intricate and stunning artwork covering the ceiling, it's peaceful and well laid out grounds include picnic areas in the orangery with a waterfall nearby. There is a hotel which serves lunches & refreshments. We visited on the last Sunday of the month when they also hold a small artisan market. Nearby are various walking trails. I done a walkabout tour of Murcia, was very impressed with the city, certainly a very different city to march around, I have done a few Spanish cities, and they are much more open planned, whereas this is all closed in, but really nice too! In amongst is this beautiful church, unfortunately it was closed the day I came here, and the pictures of it's interior look stunning, might be back next summer, so I'll give it a go then. See more..

we came here by chance and it is delightful. Very quiet, peaceful and not at all touristy, well not in early March anyhow! There are some very unusual buildings on Calle de la Iglesia which are built on stilts looking out across the countryside and overlooking what seemed to be a stage. We walked up to the Ermita as well where the views are great but unfortunately the church isn't open except for services. There was a weird hooded statue in the square by the main church. Unfortunately looked a bit like a KKK figure but it turns out to be a statue of a Holy Week penitent, a bit scary! There is also a old jail and the town just a lovely place to wander through. Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Carmen is set in a stunning location on the promenade with wonderful sea views and is a wonderful spot to watch the sunrise. It is right next to a very pretty little Oleander lined beach and near the roman ruins and the Banos de la Marrana and is a short walk to the harbour in one direction and a short walk to the main beach down the promenade or paseo in the other direction and is in the scenic heart of the village. A esta Parroquia le vuelvo a dar la máxima puntuación porque es una preciosidad. Me gusta mucho que durante el día permanezca abierta y así quien lo desea pueda entrar para rezar una oración o simplemente para respirar aire Celestial sentado en un lugar Sagrado. En la carretera de la Unión con dirección a Cartagena, poco antes de llegar a Vista Alegre hay que coger el camino a mano derecha y te lleva directamente a esta Ermita. Aunque es una buena zona para practicar senderismo en "llano", porque todo lo que hay alrededor de la Ermita son caminos de tierra, no se ve mucha gente por aquí y eso que enlaza con la Ermita Roche. Mi amiga Cristina y yo hemos venido hoy y la conclusión que sacamos de este sitio, es que es ideal para desconectar un rato de la monotonía diaria. Esta sencilla y humilde cueva convertida en "Ermita" se encuentra al lado de la Mina Agrupa Vicenta y en la parte baja del parque Eólico de La Unión. A primera hora de la mañana abren la puerta para que pueda entrar quien quiera y permanece abierta todo el día. Normalmente yo suelo venir con frecuencia por esta zona haciendo senderismo y siempre que vengo, es imposible pasar de largo sin hacer una visita a este pequeño "Santuario". Sus paredes están llenas de imágenes, hay libretas donde la escribe pidiendo deseos a La Virgen, las velas desprenden un olor que te cautiva y en general es un lugar que cuando entras por primera vez estás deseando volver más veces. Los Santos Médicos, San Cosme y San Damián, son los Patronos del bonito pueblo murciano Abarán y lógicamente sus Imágenes Sagradas están en el interior de esta magestuosa Ermita construida a mitad del siglo XX. Cuando entras en esta Ermita, sientes una sensación de relax y bienestar tan profundo que no te dan ganas de salir, es una suerte que la abran todos los días porque de esta manera la gente viene a rezar alguna oración o simplemente a buscar un momento de soledad e inspiración ante la Virgen de la Piedad.
La Ermita fue construida en el siglo XIX y la Cruz que hay frente a la puerta la colocaron en el año 1940. Hay dos cosas que son evidentes, este lugar de Culto es una preciosidad tanto su fachada exterior como por dentro, sin duda tiene mucha vida y muchos años por delante para seguir "iluminando el alma de las personas que se acercan aquí". Al visitar por primera vez esta sencilla Parroquia me ha parecido una maravilla, hay que reconocer que cuando ves tanta belleza en el interior de una iglesia, parece que cuando atraviesas la puerta te entran más ganas de rezar o por lo menos despiertas admiración por las imágenes Sagradas y el elegante decorado que tienes delante de tus ojos. Esta cueva tan curiosa, enigmática y "bendecida" con la imagen de la Virgen Madre del Amor Hermoso, se encuentra poco antes de llegar a la cima donde está el Vértice Geodésico del Pico del Águila. El acceso a la cueva hay que hacerlo arrastrándose porque la entrada tiene muy poca altura y una vez dentro hay que llevar muchísimo cuidado porque está lleno de estalactitas y puedes tener un percance, hago este comentario porque nosotros hemos estado hoy y mi amiga Cristina al levantarse una vez que ha entrado en la cueva se ha golpeado la cabeza con una de esas estalactitas y nos hemos dado un susto tremendo porque ha empezado a sangrar de una manera exagerada, por suerte este accidente ha quedado en un susto, pero hay que evitar que vuelva a ocurrir a nadie más. Es muy emocionante estar en pleno monte y encontrarte una figura sagrada y en esta cueva se respira un aire especial de espiritualidad See more..
