  4. 3.5 Pivot Rock and Natural Bridge (301 reviews)
    - Interesting
    Hiking Trails • Geologic Formations
Pivot Rock and Natural Bridge image
This interesting area of rock formations is accessed through the gift shop with a $6 admission price. The trail is easy (a slight grade in some areas) & makes a loop back to the starting point. We enjoyed our short walk in the woods & took lots of photos of the natural rock walls & odd rock formations along the way. I was disappointed that the gift shop had so little of its own merchandise. I really wanted some postcards, but all they had of their own were magnets. Be aware that the road in, Pivot Rock Rd., is narrow & curvy. We questioned if we were going the right way more than once. Its a fairly easy hike after driving ~6 miles up a gravel road from the paved highway. Today there were many other people also onnthis hike to the point, but not too difficult to navigate around everyone. I have attached several pictures going to and at the point. 7. 4.5 Lost Valley Trail (194 reviews)
    - Fantastic after a good rain
    Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails
    Lost Valley Trail image
We hiked this trail quite a few summers ago during the drought. It was interesting for sure, but not as memorable as it could have been. This time we hiked in the fall after a series of good rains, and WOW the experience was so different. The first part of the trail is very accessible, even for wheelchairs for a bit. The trail up to the cave is a bit steep, but have good shoes and you'll be fine. There was just one great water feature after another. The trail is very well-maintained as is the parking lot at the trailhead. The pit toilets were out of paper... which is common. Just be prepared. We even enjoyed a tailgate picnic lunch in the parking lot - very pleasant people watching and setting. See more..
  8. 5.0 Cedar Falls Trail (132 reviews)
    - Checking out the Falls
    Hiking Trails
    Cedar Falls Trail image
This trail is an out and back trail with a moderate/strenuous rating. The descent of over 200' at the beginning means an ascent of over 200' at the end. The trail is well made and marked and is a very enjoyable walk along the creek that is very peaceful and beautiful. The falls are very pretty and you can hike nearly under them if you wish. Worth the walk and bring your camera. See more..

beautiful and well maintained grounds, clean restrooms and showers, even a small playground - it was a wonderful stay. we had our 2 small boys with us and we were right next to the creek, it was absolutely perfect. the water wasn't deep and we were able to walk through the creek and look at rocks as a family in the evening heat. I was worried about mosquitos but we didn't have a problem at all! I would absolutely recommend staying here. they also have cabins, this was one of the nicest campgrounds and facilities we have ever visited, it was just beautiful. 5 stars all the way. See more..

  12. 4.5 Glory Hole Trail and Waterfall (46 reviews)
    - Incredible nature view of waterfalls with a moderate terrain.
    Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Glory Hole Trail and Waterfall image
This hike to the Glory Hole waterfall is totally worth it! The terrain through the woods is rocky and pretty rough at times, so make sure you are good shoes for safety. The descent down the trail to the waterfall can be tricky, but if you take you time, it can be done even with younger children. The climb done the bank has a few different pathways with exposed tree roots and large rocks making up most of the path. There are also small streams to cross at various points, but we managed to stay dry even after a hard rain the night before. The views are incredible! See more..
  13. 4.0 Black Bass Lake City Park (41 reviews)
    - Great Short Hike
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Parks • Hiking Trails
Black Bass Lake City Park image
So it turns out that my parents lead a hike here for their hiking group and there is the long hike and a short hike. We opted to do the short hike that goes along the lakes perimeter. However the first thing you see leaving the parking lot is that the dam which creates the lake is leaking in two spots and needs some serious repair work done. The hike along the edge of the lake is pretty easy save the hike up at the start. He saw lots of flowers plus slider turtles and salamanders. My dad did take me off on a side trail to see a beaver den that wasn’t two far from the first bridge you cross. The second bridge is under repair but as the stream bed was dry when we were there we could easily bypass the bridge. Really fun and worked up a big appetite. See more..
  14. 4.5 Bear Cave Trail (35 reviews)
    - No bears, no caves
    Hiking Trails
    Bear Cave Trail image
No bears around and the “caves” aren’t really caves, they only go back a few feet. Despite the exaggerated name, the formations are dramatic and easily accessed from the parking lot for those with lesser mobility. If you make the wrong turn though, you’ll walk right by the best parts and never realize they were there. See more..

Slaughter Pen Hollow Multi-Use Trail System image
My son researched Bentonville and told me it was the “mountain biking capital of the world.” We’ve ridden in many states over the past 25 years and I thought that was a pretty bold statement. Man, I was blown away by the trail system and the infrastructure. This was the best place we’ve ever ridden. Trails available for all levels of riders. Easy access to greenway trails. Do your own research and you’ll be impressed like I was. A must see place and I’ll be back to soon See more..

This is a perfect short hike to a beautiful sight and sound created by the falls. We could hear the water as soon as we hit the trail because the waterfalls were flowing quickly. We visited on a beautiful spring day. I was very impressed by the expertise of the historian at the museum by the Indian Cave trail. This is the one draw to the area that would make me come back; I'd love to join one of the many digs being organized by the University of Arkansas. See more..
  18. 4.5 DeSoto Bluff Trail (28 reviews)
    - Zen in the woods....
    Hiking Trails
    DeSoto Bluff Trail image
The solitude and the view of the river were a great way to end a long day of driving. This trail is asphalt, shaded, wide and level even for wheelchairs, and winds for just a quarter of a mile to a bluff above the Quachita river. There are chairs to sit and enjoy the view. There is pavilion with a fireplace and a few tables and benches. It was just before sundown when we walked and the quiet among the trees and the squirrels was a welcome wind down before dinner. Parking lot. Free. Check this out if you can. See more..

We hiked the mile to a mile & a half loop to the waterfall and back. The lower trail was rougher but had nice views of the lake. The upper trail was a better trail but had more ups & downs. Sugar Loaf Mountain National Nature Trail image
We went in January, which is obviously cold. The shuttle boat ride to/from the island was a pricey and a bit cold, but the mountain hiking trail warmed us up on the island. It is not an easy hiking trail, but it is fun! Beautiful day and nice views from the top of the mountain. You can get to the island by private boat or by shuttle boat from the marina. However, the island (Sugar Loaf Mountain) is free to hike. See more..
  22. 5.0 Big Bluff & The Goat Trail (14 reviews)
    - I was lucky to find it
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Big Bluff & The Goat Trail image
I searched the Big Bluff Goat Trail in Google and it took me to a place where many people were bathing in the river but zero signs of a hike. At a corner I saw a horse path and decided to follow it. I crossed the river 4 or 5 times from one side to the other and walked for an hour without finding anyone. Finally I found two people who were riding a horse and were heading towards the place and I followed them. The man explained that everyone came from the other side walking a lot but that in 10 minutes we would be there. He was correct. The view is spectacular and I did not find it as dangerous as the web says. See more..

  25. 4.5 Mossy Bluff Buckeye Trail (9 reviews)
    - Very Hard to Walk if You Leave the Concrete Path Trail
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    Mossy Bluff Buckeye Trail image
We were gonna take the easy trail as recommended by the gentleman at the Visitor Center, but somehow ended up on the wrong trail. We ended up off the concrete trail and ventured through the forest. Path was winding, rocky, steep, and at the end exhausting as we had to walk several steps to make it upstairs to the lookout spot from where you could see the dam and Greers Ferry Lake. We walked back on the concrete trail, and even there it was exhausting at times going uphill. You have to be physically fit to be able to do it and have endurance. Despite all that, we enjoyed it very much and got some good exercise. Our dog loved it too. Dogs have to be kept on a leash. The only restroom is at the Visitor Center. The trail is 1.6 miles round trip. You definitely need comfortable and sturdy shoes. Have fun! See more..

    Indian creek Trail image
Heed the warnings. This is a physically exhausting hike. There are so many waterfalls and cliffs and rock formations. It literally looks like the land that time forgot. The Indian Creek trail is great on its own but for those not afraid of heights or a little danger you can climb the ropes, crawl through the tunnel, hug the cliffs (150 ft drop) and make your way to the Eye of the Needle formation. Unbelievably beautiful and no pictures do it justice. Be smart and make good choices and you’ll love every exhausting minute See more..

So much nature and so many waterfalls in the beautiful areas of Richland creek. An amazing place that is getting a lot of traffic to the easier to get to spots. However there are times when you get it all to yourself and there are trails to more secluded spots too. Worth it !! Just please pick up after yourself and others that junk up some of the spots with litter. Otherwise enjoy the beauty and be careful out there. See more..
  31. 5.0 Fourche Mountain Trail (4 reviews)
    - Buck Knob Tower Trail
    Hiking Trails
We drove all the way from the Wolf Pen Gap Trails. Over 30 minute ride through back country, woods and local neighborhoods. Great ride. The Tower is located on a scenic mountain top in the Fourche Trails. It is one of the rockiest trails out there, mild by most standards, but simple and easy to climb. Towers on the top look like combo radio, cell towers. The view is not 360 and blocked for the most part. There is one vantage point looking out into the distance, which on a clear day can see quite a distance. Worth the ride. Plenty of other trails in the Fourche Mts. See more..

Blowing Springs Park is always fun. Its Arboretum section is a great addition to Bella Vista’s amenities. I haven’t walked all the paths, but ones I have are beautiful. I came for the walk, then discovered the lovely trees and plants and array of birds. Loved the tree decorated with unique birdhouses and the ‘leaf’ signs letting me know what tree/plant I walked by. Bring your camera. TIP: You’ll need to drive through the entire Blowing Springs campground to get to the Arboretum. Keep winding your way and you’ll find the entrance sign. Highly recommended. 37. 5.0 Tohi Nature Trail (2 reviews)
    - Lovely nature walk
Spent < 1 hour Biking Trails • Hiking Trails • Jogging Paths & Tracks
The Tohi Nature Trail is a very short (less than a mile), paved loop in Cherokee Village. It's a really nice place to go for a walk to just be in nature, and see plants and wildlife. And someone even made some rock art, so if you look carefully you'll find some cure surprises. The address is approximate - I turned onto a random road to find a place to pull the car over and have a snack, and this trail was there; I didn't think to write down an address at the time and it's not listed online anywhere so I couldn't find a good address for it. Nix Creek trail cuts a north-south path for a relatively flat and straight 2.4 miles alongside its namesake waterway in Texarkana, Arkansas. The trail is asphalt from beginning to end and is quite smooth. It weaves through neighborhoods and along school grounds. Popular with runners because of its well marked mileage points and long straight aways. Minimal lighting after dark. See more..
  39. 4.0 Old Railroad Trail (1 review)
    - A nice walk along a river
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
This is a simple 4-mile out and back trail that takes about two hours. It follows an old railroad grade, so it is generally flat and easy walking, except where it goes around a missing bridge, and at the Buffalo River where you can go down to a beach on the river. These spots can be a bit slick when muddy. The trail is on a raised fill above the Buffalo River, with bluffs above the trail most of the way. The trail provides great views of the river, is shady, and provides access to where the railroad once bridged across the river. It is a nice walk and normally there are very few travelers, so you feel like the trail is yours. Along the trail are also a few stone culverts and other structures left over from the railroad days. City Lake Park image
I discovered this place last weeI and was surprised it wasn’t on TripAdvisor. I had to wonder if it is one of those places where locals don’t want lots of people to find out so they get to keep it to themselves. :-) We did a 2 mile hike around green, blue and black rated trails for mountain bikes. It was sunny but we hardly noticed because of how shaded most of it was. Once you park you have to go across a field on a paved trail to get to the best part. Before you get to the steeper let’s of the trail, you have to cross a street where some people park on the side of the road. I highly recommend it to the mountain bikers because of some ramps they have built. Very very cool. See more..
