4.5The Walmart Museum(1.819 reviews) - Informative Museum Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent < 1 hour History Museums
The Walmart Museum is as much a part of Walmart’s history as the exhibits and artifacts that it houses. First opened in 1990, the museum was known as the Walmart Visitor Center. But as times changed and the term "Visitor Center" came to refer more to regional, state, and local tourism offices, it became apparent that a name change was needed. And so, today, The Walmart Museum carries on the mission it always has: to honor Walmart’s legacy, demonstrate its core values, and cast a vision of Walmart tomorrow. In November 2022, the Museum location at the corner of Central Ave and Main St was closed to the public for a renovation project to be completed in SPRING of 2024. In the meantime, a temporary site has been opened two blocks south of the original location; The Walmart Museum Heritage Lab. This site houses new technologies and tells the story of Walmart and Sam Walton in new ways.See more..
This National Park Service site encompasses the campus, but Central High is still an active high school. Visitors should park and begin their visit at the National Park Visitor Center, located diagonally across from the campus, at 2120 W. Daisy Gatson Bates Drive. Visitor entrance into the school is via free Ranger-led tours reserved in advance to guarantee participation. Interpreting the Civil Rights Movement with an emphasis on school integration, this National Historic Site focuses on the 1957 desegregation crisis that resulted when Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus ordered National Guard troops to prevent the first African American students, the "Little Rock Nine," from entering formerly all white Little Rock Central High School, leading to federal intervention by order of President Dwight Eisenhower.See more..

4.0Gangster Museum of America(622 reviews) - Teaches Interesting Hot Springs History Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums • History Museums
A highlight for my gangster-fascinated spouse. We signed up for the last tour and joined several unmasked tourists for the tour. It felt strange to be in a bunch of closed in rooms without masks but we are vaccinated (and hope everyone else was too). The tour guide was dressed up like a gangster and had his lines/ script down pat. The tour consisted of mostly moving from room to room looking at the photos and articles on the walls and them watching a short video. At the end you go into a room that has some slot machines and gaming tables but not much time to check them out. Then there is a final movie. You learn quite a bit about the town and its history of welcoming gangsters, and finally how they were driven out, so despite the kitsch, it is an interesting use of time when visiting Hot Springs.See more..

This museum is probably the best kid’s museum I have taken my little one to and we have been to several. We have been to larger and fancier locations but this museum kept the kids captivated with lots of interesting experiments. We could have spent the whole day and not been bored. Surprisingly there is no food establishment inside but they allowed us to leave to get lunch and re-enter since it wasn’t crowded. If you have young kids this place is a winner.See more..

We love welcoming guests from all over the world to the first home of Bill and Hillary Clinton and where they were married. Bill Clinton took Hillary Rodham's hand in marriage 17 years before he would be elected President. The home's series of owners also have deep roots in local Arkansas history. The museum houses memorabilia of Clinton's early political career, including his campaigns for US House of Representatives and Arkansas Attorney General. Temporary and timely exhibits cover the history of Secretary Clinton's life in public service and her time in Arkansas. The collections include a faithful replica of Hillary's wedding dress and a timeline of the Clinton years in Fayetteville. Our museum store has books related to the Clinton legacy, Arkansas history, Arkansas politics, and the culture of the Ozarks. We also have mementos, gifts, and more for a keepsake of your visit. 4.5Sultana Disaster Museum(52 reviews) - American Maritime Disaster Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • History Museums
Awesome find in the small town of Marion Arkansas... Most people have never heard of the Sultana (steam boat) that was the single most loss of life in a maritime accident in America. The small museum located in the old downtown area of Marion is interesting and very informative. They are in the middle of a capital campaign to raise over 7 million dollars to construct a state of the art museum to fully tell the tale of this tragic event in American history. When we visited the small (current) museum a wonderful lady named Nancy took us on a personal tour of the museum and explained the exhibit and gave us many interesting facts about the steamboat. Admission is free although they really could use a donation. Something I will go back to when the new, bigger museum is completed!See more..

4.0Two Rivers Museum(2 reviews) - Interesting South Arkansas County Historical Museum in Ashdown! Spent 1-2 hours History Museums Some people might think that County Historical Museums are not that interesting but I strongly disagree. I enjoy visiting County Historical Museums and this is my fifth county museum because they are a celebration of all of the county's citizens and their contributions through the years. And even better I never know what interesting exhibits they contain. The Two Rivers Museum has an interesting collection of Antique Guns and Civil War Memorabilia, an old timey horse -drawn hearse, a player piano, an old mail sorter from the Ogden AR Post Office as well as a small exhibit about the Buffalo Soldiers, the first African American soldiers to serve our nation during peacetime. I was also interested in several photos in the museum. The first was of H. Ross Perot's grandfather who was a teacher for many years in Little River County. The other photos were of President Bill Clinton when he was campaigning for Governor of Arkansas in Little River County. And for all those folks who are interested in South Arkansas genealogy they have a room located on the second floor dedicated just for that purpose. And don't let me forget to mention that the museum has a wonderful mural on the side of the museum which should not be missed! The Two Rivers Museum which is located at the corner of Constitution Avenue (State Hwy. 71) and Main Street in Ashdown, Arkansas is operated by the Little River County Historical Society. The museum is open Monday - Saturday 10 am - 4 pm. There is no admission charge but donations to the museum are very welcome. 4.0Tontitown Historical Museum(1 review) - Cute /little/ walkthrough. Spent 1-2 hours History Museums It's really a pretty little area. With a park right next to it and especially knowledgeable people, this is a really nice place to spend an hour or so. Unfortunately. That hour will either be spent milking the employee stationed there for history, or analyzing the meager offerings provided. Cram more then seven people in and you will begin to have problems with personal space. Thankfully, it seems to be quite dead in terms of traffic. So, going in and learning about the Italian settlers and history of the area is rather interesting.See more..
