On a recent trip my wife and I took to Arkansas, we stopped to visit some friends we hadn't seen in many years. After they treated us to lunch, the friends insisted that we had to see a local library, which turned out to be the Donald Reynolds Library. The library was built with a $9.8 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. To say that we were impressed with the facility would be an incredible understatement. As just one of the many features, there's artwork set in the floor, a pathway of paving stones that stretches from one end of the library to the other. It turned out that our friend's sister and husband did the pathway. On a lower level of the library, there's a children's area, complete with life-sized statues. Obviously, my wife and I were just passing through the area and reconnecting with old friends. I could see us spending a lot of quality time in the library if we lived around Mountain Home.See more..

Behind the library is a brick building that is a perpetual book sale (books, magazines, movies, books on tape, and music) that includes a surprising selection (newest thrillers mixed in with vintage science fiction and some jazz CDs were only a few of our awesome finds).See more..
